I've come through many earthquakes (in Japan and California), countless hurricanes (in North Carolina), a few tornadoes (also in North Carolina), a moderate tsunami (in Japan), and one very big fire (the Oakland Hills Firestorm ... 18 years ago this week in fact).

By far, fire scares me the most. I "get" the other acts of nature; they all somehow make sense to me. But fire is different. It is scary, it is foreign, and of the disasters listed in this prompt it is the one that is the most painful ... earthquakes can be fun in a surreal way, and all the others involve wind and rain. But fire ... well, it is fundamentally incompatible with flesh in a way that none of the other natural disasters are.
