• I miss my meds!
    • Since no one has time for a cold, I was quickly suckered into Zicam which claimed to be a magical concoction that would lessen the severity and shorten cold symptoms. There are several methods of ingestion when it comes to this medication, mouth sprays, quick dissolve tablets etc. My favorite is the nasal gel. You squirt a pump into your nose pinch your nostrils and DON'T SNIFF FOR AT LEAST 30 SECONDS!

My husband claims that he read some story about a man who used this product and lost his sense of smell. Blah, blah blah, IT WORKS! You know that feeling you get the day before you get sick. You are pretty much fully functioning but you just feel a little, well, meh? That is how you feel on Zicam. For a few days you feel like you do the day before get sick but you never get the full blown flu. So. Worth. It.

However, being pregnant has changed all of this. I am finally recovering for a nasty cold and cough. 4 days of hacking and runny nose and not able to (or really feeling comfortable with) taking anything. No Zicam, no Ibuprofen, no Advil PM. With all the coughing I did, I am sure that I gave my unborn child some sort of head injury. I'm better now, but it was quite a fight.

Advil/Tylenol PM is good shtuff. How about herbal tea remedies? I generally can't take antibiotics so I spend a mint at Whole Foods on the teas. Works great on colds! (never had the flu)
