    • The road wasn't terrible, the weather SUCKED
    • I'm not 80 years old, but I hate driving at night

It was late at night and raining.... I am such a terrible night-time driver, plus I was tired. Add rain, fog, mountains, semi-trucks, shitty radio, and I was a wreck.

How about scariest times as a passenger?
Once I was in a cab with sister in Chicago, and I thought I was going to see the Promised Land with her that very evening. It was such a bonding moment.

Another time I was riding in a rental car in Malawi, Africa with a panic-attack-prone woman. I don't know which was worse, her freaking out over her friend's driving ("Watch out! There's a pigeon on the road!" This is no lie.) or her actual driving--trying to manage a stick shift, drive on the right side of the car on the left side of the road, and figure out round-abouts.
