Your friend is thinking about getting a pet. What do you recommend?
If my friend was a guy and he wanted a smart dog that would uphold his manly image, I would recommend him buying a lab or a golden retriever. Another good dog is a border collie. If my friend was a lady, I would explain to her that dogs must be bigger than a hamster. I would tell her to scratch any dogs that could fit in her purse. Poodles are smart but they are a little foo foo. Some guys avoid girls with foo foo dogs. For a woman, I would recommend a mixed breed dog like a cocka-a-poo. Those dogs have the smarts of a poodle and the hunting abilities of a cocker spaniel. They are a good compromise dog for couples. My personal favorite dog is a cocker spaniel.
If my friend wants a dog, then I think he or she should surely get a dog. Dogs are arguably the best pet you can have. Dogs can read emotions very well and are known as "man's best friend" for a reason. Cats can be great as well but they lack the emotional punch that a dog has.
