- "This is the best funeral ever..."
I am not sure I can accurately speak to what others might say of me. I feel certain comments would be made along the lines of... "She made the most of her life... She followed her dreams... She wasn't afraid to live life and see the world..." I hope they would also say, "She was funny, warm and authentic. She was brave, absolutely beautiful in vulnerable moments and had a caring heart for the planet at all its living creatures." But most importantly I would like people to say, "She made a difference in my life, and she will be missed." But without a doubt I know people will say, "She was loved!"
Provided I get my wishes for a funeral, here is what the fantastic day will look like - A slide show of my photography and travels will be blasted on one wall. The shell of my body (as all my organs will have been donated) will be gently laid out in jeans, a t-shirt and flip-flops, inside a pine coffin, that all of my friends have hand-painted, and written personal messages on. And because I am a foodie at heart, there is a strong chance of wine and delicious appetizers. Music will of course float through the entire scene. And as the evening winds down, they will place my pine box in the middle of a gorgeously built fire, and set my soul ablaze.
