- My favorite place to hear music: The Slowdown
-
The first time I was there, I think, was for the That 1 Guy/Buckethead concert that I was kicked out of... for being WAY TOO drunk. Too drunk to stand. I was ushered to a super secret elevator that opened up to the back parking lot. I was kindly nudged out the door and I sat in the parking lot for a couple hours puking my guts out.
The venue is an awesome bar. They have all kinds of cool events there aside from music. Originally they only billed indie bands and stuff, but the recession kind of pressured them to expand their horizons. I saw Cannibal Corpse there. Some of the petite, indie chicks that were bouncers were scared out of their minds. The joint has a small front room where you can enjoy a small-scale show and have a beer or two with your friends. For the larger shows, they open the upstairs and open the wall that divides the bar from the main stage and floor area. If you go there, you'll like it. It's in a pretty neat area of downtown Omaha too. There is an American Apparel and an Urban Outfitters nearby.
I miss The Slowdown. At least Okinawa has Oh Yeah!
