    • Me, as a Teen
    • blond girl

I was very skinny, but developing an attitude. I wore my hair long, peroxide blonde with my bangs sprayed into a configuration which closely resembled a gardening fork standing on its end. I wore either skirts which were too short or clothes which were too baggy depending on my mood. I still didn't like standing out in the crowd, but I didn't exactly fit in either. I had a perma-scowl on my face and seem to remember spending much of that decade rolling my eyes. I was never cool or popular, but I was bitchy enough that people tended to leave me alone. I became adept at pointing out other people's flaws and exploiting their vulnerabilities as a defence mechanism which I developed in order to prevent people from picking on me. I never bullied though; I only used my powers of observation on people who I thought genuinly deserved it. 'Those people' being the popular people who picked on us shy, nerdy people who would never stand up for ourselves.

It was during this time in my life that I discovered that popular people/bullies picked on others to take the attention away from their flaws and insecurities. I became a vigilante; the bringer of justice in the name of all geekdom. Cheerleaders beware.

Ooh I like! :0) Especially your use of portmanteau words - I'm going to have to steal perma-scowl by the way ;0)
