- I Heart These Charities
-
I don't make enough money to financially support a charity, but the charities that I outwardly support most are any that benefit misunderstood animals. Primarily, I'm referring to the pit bull.
The pit bull is one of the most misunderstood dog breed and, if I wanted, I could sit here and type an entire paper that describes, in detail, the myths and facts about the breed, as well as its history. I could even provide statistics that prove people are stupid when it comes to this breed of dogs.
However, it is late and I must get to bed. I just happened to forget about plinky until right now.

- The Closest Thing to Romance
-
I can't say I have much in the history of romance, nor has anything truly romantic been done for me, as of yet. I'm still young, there is plenty of time for experience. I suppose the most romantic thing that has been done for me was by an ex. We are no longer speaking with one another, but I will never forget the rose he gave me while I was visiting with him. Granted, it was swiped from one of his neighbor's yards. And granted, he'd taken it while we were biking, but that didn't matter. It was a lovely rose. White and pink.
He also would cook me breakfast every morning, and he definitely did a good job! I started eating sausage again for the first time because of him. I also remember him taking the time to make hot chocolate the good way, rather than doing it the instant way, just for me.
When we broke up, it was a mess. I had given him a necklace -- which had shattered while I was there -- and told him to give it back to me when he was sure he didn't want me. A few months, and some very bitter words later, I forced him to give it back. And he did. He had put it back together, too. Even reattached the clasps (which are those pain-in-the-ass screw ones).

- My Favorite Childhood Movie
-
My favourite childhood movie will always be the same -- it's never changed. It's even my favourite book! The 10th Kingdom, when I first watched it, struck me with awe. I never thought I'd see when they could successfully put nearly every single fairytale character into one movie! I mean, seriously? Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White -- even a Rapunzel reference? The way it was pulled off in this movie was amazing! I'd watch it no matter what!

- Ah, Roomates.
-
My worst roommate story, eh? Well, that one's already well-known among my friends and family. It isn't so much the fact that I hate them -- well, I hate one of them the other is just misguided and poorly treated -- but the fact that they betrayed me.
I'm one of those people who has often been described as too nice. Too caring. I never really believed it until the first time I was truly treated like a doormat. You see, I had this friend. She was a lesbian, but that didn't matter. She was my best friend -- I would have given my life for her at any given moment. I wanted, more than anything, to see her happy. So I did what most people wouldn't do. I coughed up over four-hundred dollars when she and her ex-girlfriend got back together. Her ex-girlfriend was living in a group home due to a fight with her mother and my roommate wanted desperately to bring her down to good ol' Arkansas. She didn't have the money though, so I loaned it to her -- with her assurance that she would pay me back.
It was a one way flight. So why would it cost so much? I was bringing her here from Alaska. I even painstakingly went out of my way to bake her a cake -- throw a welcome home party. The cake was red velvet and I spent hours on it. It was eaten and enjoyed.
I only charged them three hundred dollars in rent -- electricity where I was living was outrageous and they were taking up more or less about half of the house. And they never cleaned up after themselves. Her girlfriend was pregnant, and used this as an excuse for everything. As each month went by, the rent was later and later, and I was getting nothing back for the money I loaned her. Instead, I struggled to cover the bills. They had foodstamps, but rather than use their own, they would eat our food. My boyfriend had bought me a set of Corelle dishes -- they somehow lost at least one plate, bowl, and cup. Every time I'd go into their room because I couldn't find something, I would discover a mess that I could never make.
I finally had enough. I had an electricity bill well over five-hundred dollars, and they had stopped paying altogether. I evicted them, even though it killed me to do it. I had also gotten sick of her girlfriend treating me like a dog and talking shit about me behind my back. We'd given up so much trying to make her feel at home. I threatened them with a small claims suit. I went through, got the paperwork, etc. It worked -- I got the money I was owed, and they were gone.
Now, months later, I received an update on their situation. The girlfriend gave birth to a boy. He was kept in ICU due to breathing difficulties -- something that was entirely their own fault as his mother insisted on smoking weed, among other things. I feel sorry for that child, and I feel pity for my ex-roommate and best friend. Her girlfriend has her wrapped around her little finger to the extent that she has no friends and no contact with anyone, but then... she's the one who is willingly going through with it all.
