      • In response to: "If you were in a movie right now, what music would be playing?" Rage Against the Machine, hands down. I hate capitalism and our hegemonic government policies as well, and Rage speaks to me.

    • Reading "Failed States"' opened my eyes and changed my life forever
      • This is the book that truly opened my eyes as to what was going on around the world. Noam Chomsky, professor of linguistics and philosophy at MIT and world-renowned policy analyst, very eloquently outlines the problems America faces in the world today, and how nearly every single one of our solutions makes the problem significantly worse. Or, if our solutions don't worsen the problem, we usually caused the problem to arise in the first place.

As it states in the title, the book mainly addresses the idea that the United States is a "failed state." Professor Chomsky discusses the rest of the world's opinion of the US, and how our meddling in other nations' affairs and our nation's blatantly aggressive, hegemonic policies drag said opinion down. The only problem I have with this book is the date, which is by no means the good professor's fault. The book was written a few years ago, and mainly deals with the Bush Administration (Thank God for their departure, a little late to prevent a lot of harm to international relations, but hey, better late than never.).

Obviously there is more to it than that, and it is much more eloquent and detailed than this post, but I don't want to write a massive summary of the dang thing, so just go read it for yourself. It is very easy to read and entertaining, when I picked it up I had little to no interest in politics at all, and now Chomsky is my idol and I can't get enough of news and analysis of international affairs, relations, and news!

Easily one of the most ridiculously awesome people of all time, and is by far my biggest hero. Plus he is opposed to capitalism, just like me!

        Slavoj Zizek
        Three reasons:
        1. Sweet name
        2. Epic facial hair
        3. Hates capitalism (what a coincidence!)

        Zach de la Rocha
Vocalist for my favorite band of all time, Rage Against the Machine, and is opposed to American hegemony.
Oh, and did I mention he hates capitalism?

        Jesus
His having been crucified REALLY makes my bad days seem a whole lot better in comparison.
Probably hated capitalism too... I'm not sure though... I'll get back to you on that...
