- In response to: "What was the comfort food you enjoyed most growing up?" Ice cream. I still love it. I am usually a cery nice person but if you get between me and ice cream, you're going down.

- Life's Little Awkward Moments: Dating
-
For me, silence isn't awkward. It's an opportunity. I'd take the time to explore the subtle planes and creases of his face and breath in his scent.(I love the way my husband smells) And experiencing how a date handles a quiet moment is very telling. People who feel the need to fill every moment with speech wear me out.

- What I'd Say to My 16-Year-Old Self

The decisions you make now will have lifelong conseqences. A bad marriage that, despite the bad parts, leads to four amazing and beautiful kids, a move to another state that results in asounding personal growth and eventually to divorce and true happiness with a wonderful husband you love more every day.
All is well shy girl. You always had it in you, just didn't realize it.

Everyone would eat more ice cream. Sweet, drippy goodness in a perfect crispy package. Wars are never started over a big bowl of ice cream. My favorite is butter pecan, what's yours?

"There are many who hear voices when no one is there. Some are called mad and are locked up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers and they do pretty much the same thing."
This quote appeals to me as a writer and the caregiver for a mentally ill family member. There were moments when we really understood one another and days when nothing made a lick of sense.

- System of Support for Creative Kids
-
I firmly believe that creative kids, young writers and artists, deserve a practice field of their own similar to the system we have in place for young athletes.
I envision young writers and young artists groups in cities and towns across America where parents, coaches and community members come to support their burgeoning talents.
Just as we know that every kid participating in sports is not going to be a pro athlete, we would not expect all the creative kids to become writers or artists. However we do we need to be teaching kids how to think not what to think. It's creative thinking that results in scientific breakthroughs and advances in technology as well great literature and art. Visit www.youngvoicesfoundation.org to see what I hope is the beginning of my dream.
