- : Purple Starfish Mandala Anyone?
-
I haven't been there in a long time, but I have wonderful memories of this island where my mom spent much of the 70s.
She took me and my sister back to visit all her artist friends and we ate chocolate croissants and tofu with scallions and soy sauce and played on the beach. We found a little pool of water on a sandy rock and we filled it with purple starfish out of the tide pools and then surrounded it with a corolla of crab shells and bits of rock and seaweed.

- I'll Spend More Time Out in the Sunshine This Year
-
Well, I still haven't been there, so any time will be more time. But generally, I want to spend more time doing outdoor things, taking advantage of finally having a vehicle and getting to know the Bay Area and Northern California a lot better. Any favorite hikes? Camping sites? Restaurants that are worth traveling to?

- If Knitting was an exercise, I'd be in tip-top shape

If knitting also counted as cardio, I would be amazing shape. As it is, I just have very nimble fingers and lots of woolly objects.

- If you pay me enough, I'll sing these songs at a karaoke bar
-
Sure, I'd rather sing this around my old kitchen table in Providence with Sophie, Kate, and Lynn, but if I have to sing something, I might as well be "begging of you please don't take my man." Not sure how long I can hold that final "Joleeeeeeene" though.
Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez
I've sung along with it enough times while washing the dishes so I at least know when to come in and I don't have to watch the bouncing ball. That helps. Plus it's fun to sing "my poetry was lousy you said."
This is the only song Caleb has been known to sing karaoke to, so we could duet. He last sang it at a work party in New York with his boss and a few too many vodka & cranberries.

- My favorite room
-
The living room. Well, the kitchen/living room. The bedroom tends to be chilly and messy. The living room is also often messy, but also warm. I knit, read and type on the couch and gradually spread papers, yarn, envelopes, more papers, notebooks, folders, etc. in piles on either side of me. Then I shove them all into a big pile on one side when Caleb wants to sit down. Someday I would like to have an armchair that I can sit sideways in like the one I fell asleep in the other day at the library. I also enjoy drinking Numi Rainforest Green Tea in my blue cup at the kitchen table while reading metaphor theory in the evening.
