I am "in touch" with many High School friends on Facebook. Our class is pretty cool since a majority of us have linked to a page devoted to the Mt.Greylock Reg. High School Class of 1974.
The important part of my inclusion in that class is that my mother taught at MGRHS and paid a tuition for me to attend there for my junior and senior years.
My local HS was failing me in many ways. The friends I made and schooling that I received at Mt.Greylock are priceless. That was money very well spent on my parents' part!
Upon our united site, there are rumors of a documentary being made about our class and our individual lives. As a relative newcomer to that graduating class, I am very thankful to have been embraced as a full fledged member!
I hope there is school choice when Katherine enters High School because I'd love for her to attend MY high school.

 Oh my yes!
My most recent odd dream just could be the seed for a Sci-fi/Thriller:
I was in the forest when I noticed a young black bear. I had no fear at all but warned a crowd of strangers to beware of the strength of a young wild beast.
Next thing I knew, someone had captured it and had shaved it completely to pink skin. They now convinced everyone that it was a human child. Even, I ,was unable to discern if it was a child but was convinced it was still a bear. I felt along the lower spine and discovered an extended naked tail bone...I was right, but no one would listen. I felt an ominous anxiety enough to wake me from the dream...

I've always imagined that I would be a dolphin. Their existence has nothing to do with "things" but has everything to do with family and fun. To move through the world with such grace and so few worries would be paradise.
From what we know of them, I'd have a logical, inquisitive mind and an understanding of life itself. I believe they have a language and, in many ways, are kinder neighbors and better parents than humans.
No one would care about appearances...natural selection would have kept illnesses of all kinds to a minimum and issues like abortion, medical insurance and pensions would have no meaning.
Yes, I would hope that in the eyes of Karma, being a dolphin would be a higher step to enlightenment and ultimate peace.

The temptation to try to change an event, such as warning the Titanic about icebergs ,would be great. I feel that things happened and they should not be undone because the course of history is what it is.
After watching the A&E series: The Impressionists/The Other French Revolution, over and over and....I really wish that I had been a "fly on the wall" at gatherings which led to the birth of French Impressionist Art and the movement to shake up the traditional art world of the late 19th century.
Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Camille Pizzaro, Alfred Sisley, and Edgar Degas often met at the home of the, soon to be, famous Berthe Morisot. They'd have dinner and discuss their passion for capturing a moment on a canvas.
In Paris, April 15th to May 15th, 1874 these brilliant artists changed the way we would enjoy paintings forever. I cannot image the gatherings of these courageous artisans as NOT being historic events of epic proportion.
Berthe Morisot was welcomed into the fold of male Impressionists as an equal. Certainly, the acceptance of a woman artist, in THAT time, was extraordinary. These people found each other, formed a group of mutual support and took on the establishment. Gosh, I'd love to have witnessed that!
You may want to find the A&E series on DVD and experience it for yourself!

A wonderful question.
1. The way women are considered valuable, intelligent and capable.
2. I believe diversity is accepted, here, better than in most other cultures.
3. I enjoy the "melting pot" influence on our foods...many countries of origin, many great recipes!
4. I enjoy the importance that pets have gained and our interest in the welfare of them. Hope the courts will realize this, they are more than property!
5. What started as "Yankee Ingenuity" has translated into wonderful entrepreneurship.

"I puzzled and puzzled 'til my puzzler was sore."
I always proclaim that June and September are my favorite months because those months usually have my idea of perfect weather. After having to come up with a favorite month, I realized that I (almost)couldn't. They all have special traits and I love them for what they are. Holidays, activities, birthdays, playing in the snow, seeing the first crocus, how could anyone choose?
What I DO choose is to spend them all in the Northeastern US...rich in US history, Yankee ingenuity, and seasons.
My choice is September.

Just yesterday, I had a fortune cookie and I was thinking how lame the fortunes are! Of course, if they weren't vague and obviously, just for fun, there would be lawsuits.
Imagine you are sitting in a restaurant alone one evening. You crack open the delightful meal-ending treat and it says, "The people at the next table suspect you of a terrible crime."
You glance quickly around the room meeting the eye of a man in an odd green plaid blazer. He grins and nods knowingly. OH NO! He knows!
It wasn't your fault, it happened years ago!
But, how could he know? "I was sure that I was alone!" , you whisper under your breath.
The following months are spent looking over your shoulder and loitering at the entrances of dry cleaners... watching and waiting, hoping to spot that sickening green plaid blazer. THEN, you'll casually look for the man's name and address while studying the price lists on the counter. Yes, it was a great plan. You can go to his home and reason with him, plead with him! That MAN...he's been stalking you every night in your dreams! Your eyes are swollen from the lack of sleep. The perimeter of your eye sight is fuzzy and the fact that you have not changed your clothes since that chance encounter makes you really smelly!
Suddenly you are watching your reflection waving to you below the pier. How? When? Nothing matters anymore as you smile a "grinchly" grin at your visage which returns it, then disappears as you race toward the water, head first, shouting," The book was only two days overdue!"

My intellectual curiosity and passion for new ideas is the gift I received from my mom. We recently had an opportunity to share the excitement we have for projects. Although I am considered the "creative" family member, Mom is a true creative person as well and applies her creativity differently but no less effectively.
I am a political animal which comes from Mom too. My husband has a bit to do with the level of my interest though.
Mom, my sister and I share a deep connection with our pets and a fondness for the English language and it's proper application.
Whenever I have a question and my reaction is,"I must look that up.", it's from my mother's inspired thirst for knowledge.
Her commitment to family and civil responsibilities is the cornerstone for the three "good citizens" that she raised. All of her 3 children have stayed in and been productive members of their hometown.
Mom read to us at early ages and brought us to the library. Family stories were very important to her father and she passed on, that love for a really good story, to me.
The fact that I consider myself a writer is her doing...thanks Mom!

It would be a situation comedy about a family day care provider and her precocious crew. There would never be a dull moment since kids are comedians by nature. I've done day care for so long, I would be my own best creative consultant. The actual kids on the show would not be stars, just ordinary kids.
There would be few lines to memorize because we would introduce amusing situations and let the kids react naturally!
I believe the show's title would be,"You can Go Home Now!"
The frazzled lead character (a day care provider) would be pining to retire but cannot afford to. Through the years, she has developed odd but effective ways to deal with kids and their parents too. I might cast Whoopie Goldberg for the lead.
The politically correct, intellectual, first-time parents of her charges would provide many funny subjects which would go to show us all that kids have always been the same. It's the parents who need help!

TV Characters ruled my young years.

TV characters made a big impression on my generation. We were the first kids to enjoy that Saturday morning ritual in front of the TV. In the 50s and early 60s, Saturday morning was not entirely a cartoon venue. Shows like Fury, My Friend Flicka, Rin Tin Tin and Sky King were dramas with real actors. Certainly, my devotion to animals has roots in these shows, The "save the day" mentality ran deep in those shows.I still laugh when I picture (June Lockhart) asking Lassie to go home and find her keys on the counter, near the cookie jar, THEN bring them to Timmy and have him come along not without dropping by the barn to grab a rope so he might pull her out from beneath her car which rolled over her leg as she stopped to investigate a gopher hole where she incidentally lost her other set of keys!
And they say, "Truth is stranger than fiction." REALLY?
By the time I was 10, I had a healthy understanding of the plausible but chose to be entertained by those early shows.
Then came Star Trek. My adolescent years revolved around the swashbuckling tales of space exploration. It did not have to be believable and I had been tempered in the ridiculous and was ready for adventure. Forgive my pun, the sky was the limit and my imagination was set free.
There are many who scoff at that low budget, out-of-the box, science fiction show. The writing was deep and those who appreciated it, saved it from the "Dopey Show" graveyard.
Captain James T. Kirk was just the role model for me. His courageous investigation of new worlds (which in your teens applies to life) along with his ability to do what HE BELIEVED was right, many times in spite of rules and traditional thinking made me proud.I became a student of civil disobedience and a believer that cunning is our best weapon. The topics of that show crossed many social barriers and made me think...yes, thinking and reconsidering forever became a part of me and I am grateful.
