My work with my startup firm Capture Your Flag (captureyourflag.com) focuses heavily on career wellness and positive psychology elements in its efforts interviewing up and coming leaders to understand the characteristics and experiences shaping fulfilling careers.
The concept of "Flow" by positive psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Flow is the psychological state that accompanies highly engaging activities.
In Chris Peterson's "A Primer in Positive Psychology" text he notes it is a "characterization of engagement" in the activity itself for what triggers flow, rather than the end result.

I'd make a run to B&H Camera on 34th and 8th Ave in NYC and pick up two wireless LAV microphones. I'd upgrade my iMac RAM to 4GHz. I'd also seriously consider buying skis and ski boots for an upcoming big mountain trip (renting is getting old) before deciding instead to invest in a couple new dining room chairs from Room & Board.
