    • I realized I was a grown-up

      • when I was 16 and my father died - my mother had died 18 months earlier. I was "emancipated from the disadvantages of minority" by a court meaning that I was legally 21 so that I could participate in the will and estate without a guardian! Hit me pretty hard that I had to act like an adult because I was legally one even though emotionally I was probably 12!
