the first line by chuck d says it all: "1989, a number, another summer!" while the song accompanied a controversial film about heated race relations in brooklyn during the summer of 1989, it also reminds me again of coming of age and my changing perspectives on a lot of things after my freshman year of college.

I'm not one to cry over the death of a celebrity, but when Michael Baisden played this song on the radio when news of Jackson's death was confirmed, I admit I did shed a tear.
You see, I went through an MJ-obsession phase as a young teen, and 'Human Nature' was my all-time favorite Jackson song from the Thriller album. I would literally go to sleep to that song!
So yeah, hearing that brought on a tear or two.
This book reminds me of watching 'Sesame Street' and 'Reading Rainbow' in my PJ's. The story is so visual, I can still feel myself in Max's bedroom-turned-jungle whenever I think of this book.
