      • I want my children to be able to experience country life, particularly farm life. I grew up on the farm and though I hated it at times, it was a good experience. I want my kids to have a similar experience, even for just a short visit. When my younger cousins come to visit, they usually come out and help feed calves at least once during their trip. It's a new experience for them, and I want my children to have that as well.

I loved this game. Not so much the seeking, but the hiding. I was good at it and being smaller, I could fit into places that others couldn't. When I was younger, my cousins, younger brother, and I would play Hide and Seek out in the barn; this made everything so much harder because there were so many possibilities. Not to mention, it sucked being the one who was the seeker, since my older cousins could climb up into the rafters or other high places that we just couldn't reach or think to look.

I also remember playing with my one cousin out in a cornfield...and then got lost. That was scary. I managed to find my way back by listening to the sounds of a tractor running in the distance. Never let your cousin get in front of you in a row of corn!

Of course, there were the standard games, just playing at Grandma's house or, more rarely, at our house. Those were fun games, though not quite as varied as the ones played outside or in the barn. I guess living on a farm had its perks, at least when it came to hiding.

Now, I have little cousins, and I never really see them playing Hide and Seek. That makes me sad; it was an entertaining game and we could play for hours...
