        chocomel glow

As an English Expat the firm favourites, that have stayed on my ever smaller growing list of must have's from home, are:

Marmite - love or hate it
PG Tips - english strong tea bags
Cadbury's Milk Chocolate - large as possible
        Hot Cross Buns or scones
        Chip shop vinegar

If you'd have asked me 10 years ago when I left the UK with my 4 sides of A4 paper filled with what I need next time in UK/visitors coming, what are you going to miss; I'd have responded with sophisticated choices such as Tesco's Finest ready made meals, multi-seeded low cal/carb bread sticks, select items from the wonderful Bermondsey market, etc....

But the taste of home is a taste that takes us back to our early years, the tastes that were burnt into our minds in the formative days, the tastes that take us truly "home" - pop back to your parents house and those things on your list will be there in their cupboard on the whole.

Now having left the Netherlands after a long time - I have a list of must haves from there:

        Licorice
        Applemoes - apple sauce
        Satay sauce
        Poffertjes - mini pancakes
        Chocomel - chocolate milk drink

Why? These are not items for me, but items that my son who has spent the majority of his young life in the Netherlands, must have in order to survive (well that's what he says). For him these are the tastes of HOME.

        Champagne Mumm

I have the opportunity to be made over, wear fab designer upmarket clothing, be on Telly at the weekend. Means I have to go to London - FAB....but my man is coming home from working abroad and its his birthday weekend and I love him and really want to celebrate with him and our son together....so one of me will be getting the train to London tomorrow and hanging out with friends till filming on Saturday at her old working place and the other will be enjoying her partner and child's company and celebrating his birthday and sharing family happiness.

        Pâtisserie Philippe

Both ;) with a bit of whipped cream on top!!! Particularly when made by Eric Lanlard! His tart citron made when working for Roux was fabulous!
