- Best Month of the Year
-
My favorite month of the year is October. I always start off October right because my birthday is on October second. I love fall in Southern California. The air is crisp and cold but the sun shines. Everything feels fresh. I love Halloween. It's my favorite holiday. I love creepy, morbid things. I love scary movies and pumpkin-flavored things. School volleyball season is in October. I just loe everything about October.

- Knowledge All Around Us
-
Occasionally I eavesdrop on people in public places. There are may fascinating people in the world with lots of life experience and sometimes you can learn something. A certain situation comes to my mind. It was a few months ago at the Yellow Deli with my sister and some friends. There were these two guys next to us, it looked like they were on a date. One of the guys was very quiet and the other was very outgoing. The outgoing one was talking about how evil starfish are. He was talking about how they go on top of mussels and eat them slowly. He said that the other mussels are like, "Ohmygod what happened to Jimmy?!" We were dying laughing. Sometimes good stories can come from listening to people in public. You just need to keep your ears open.

- Rainy Days
-
Being a California baby, I'm not a huge fan of rainy days. In fact, I kinda hate them. I love sunshine. I love the warmth on my skin and the cool breeze in my hair. But every now and then, we get rainy days. They're not so bad if they don't last long. It can actually be fun to run around in the rain, bare feet on the wet pavement, face to the sky, singing and dancing. It can make you feel like you're in a movie. Rainy days are also great for creativity. I love to write and paint and rainy days just make me feel artsy. I also love watching Ryan Gosling movies with my sisters, drinking Starbucks. So there are some benefits to rainy days.

- Benefits of the Beach
-
Living in San Diego, I have a lot of options when it comes to water recreation.
When given the choice, I would definitely choose the beach over the pool any day. The beach gives me a sense of freedom. It's my happy place. The ocean stretches for miles and miles, farther than the eye can see, and it really makes you start to wonder about everything, just life in general. The beach is a good place to think. You can just walk along the shore and not even notice how far you've gone. And in the water, the waves are so soothing, swirling around you like foreign winds. There is so much life in the ocean, it seems to be alive itself, always moving. The pool is fun, but not nearly as spiritually and mentally beneficial as the beach.
