Do we still need daylight saving time?
I live in Arizona, the only state in the union that does not observe daylight savings time (except for up in the Navajo Nation, they do observe it there) so it was always bizarre and odd to me that people changed their clocks anyway. When I moved to New Orleans I became oddly fascinated with how TV programming got caught up. You would also spend the next week, after the time change, thinking, "Okay, it's 3 PM now but really it's 2 PM but...." Finally that subsides and you are okay with the time again and then the whole thing starts all over. I loved fall back cause I got an hour back but spring, man that sucked. You lost a whole hour and that was usually sleep.
Okay, now that I've traveled daylight savings memory lane, I'll answer the question. No, it's not needed. Wasn't it set up for farmers to have daylight hours that coordinated with everyone else? Then the kids could come home from school and work the fields and stuff like that? At any rate that was all before this technological revolution so no. It's time to put it to rest. It's obsolete now.

Do you have any friends you regret not keeping in touch with?
Why thank you Plinky for helping me illustrate my point that social networking sites like Facebook aren't all bad. It's because of Facebook that I have found and keep in touch with most people from my past. Old co-workers, cousins, distant relatives I've never met in person and even childhood friends. Most of which I probably would never talk to again, but through the power of Facebook I am once again able to keep up with even their day to day lives. I know about all those little things, like whether they are having a good or bad day, their kids school functions and happenings, how their jobs are going, etc..
There is one exception. Didi. After I moved back to Arizona from New Orleans I basically went underground for a few years. My life was falling apart and I didn't want to talk to anyone.I was in hiding.
I came to my senses a few years later and finally began looking old friends up. I was able to find just about everyone with the exception of Didi. Despite the fact that I hadn't talked to her in 5 years I had thought about her often. After Katrina struck a great many friends were scattered to the winds. I finally got in touch with a mutual friend and she informed me that Didi had passed away about a year earlier. That was the last thing I had expected, she was so young, only 41 years old. She had suffered a brain aneyrysm and passed away rather quickly on her front lawn.
I still feel a little guilt that I had waited so long to contact her again. She was always so wonderful and loving. She was one of the few people that saw my true face and loved me anyway. I regret not being able to tell her I love her. I miss you and love you Didi. You meant a great deal to me and your memory will always be in my heart.

What does home mean to you?
Romantic Heart form Love Seeds
A goofy poem about "home"
Home is where I hang my hat
Home is where my babys at
Home has all the things I need
It's also what heals me when I bleed
Home resides within my head
But its also where we break our bread
Home is where you'll find my dogs
But its not just comprised of bricks or logs
Its a feeling I get when I see those I love
Its also a structure with a roof up above
Home for me it has two meanings
It exists as a place and as a feeling
Goofy? Yes. Do I care? Nope.

What albums did you listen to the most while growing up?
I was a poser…….
Allow me to explain. In high school everyone was segregated into groups, based mostly on the type of music one listened to . There were preppies, punks, surfers, jocks, stoners, new wavers, and there was also this sort of pre goth group that didn’t really have a name. Each group could be easily identified by style of dress. Being a “headbanger” my uniform was Levi 501 jeans (no other type allowed), concert t-shirts, bandanas and the bigger the hair the better. Once you were established into a group very little crossover was tolerated. As part of my headbanger allegiance I promised to love, party to and know the lyrics to Ozzy, The Scorpions, Iron Maiden and the like. Which I did, I liked them fine but secretly, in the sanctuary of my room, I also loved Culture Club, Wham, and Tears For Fears. Of course to admit this to my group would have been social suicide. I would have been a pariah. On the outside I was Shouting At The Devil but inside I also wanted to be a Karma Chameleon. Everyone was Rocking Like A Hurricane but I also wanted to Relax just like Frankie said. Ah, high school. Amazingly we all survived…

What travel lessons have you learned the hard way?
When I traveled over to the Philippines I had purchased the standard electric outlet conversion kit. However when I arrived it seemed my curling iron would plug right in, "Hey" I thought, "I guess they converted the outlets over to accomodate American electical items." Of course this was just arrogant American thinking. I plugged my curling iron in and it did heat up.......boy did it heat up, to the temp of your standard soldering iron. I figured this out when my hair started to smoke while curling it. Oops. "Hey baby! Where is that outlet conversion kit again?"
Lesson learned: Just because the plug will fit into the outlet doesn't mean it SHOULD go in the outlet.
