- On Lying
-
1939. Germany.
Knock, Knock.
Who's there?
The SS. Got any Jews in the closet?
OKAY TO LIE.
Of course, there are other times it's okay to lie as well. This is just the example I used when faced with one of those "It's NEVER okay to lie under ANY circumstances" people. Just to bust their balls.

- Movies Worth Watching Multiple Times
-
Love Actually. Hugh Grant dancing to the Pointer Sisters? Liam Neeson playing Leonardo DiCaprio to his love-struck stepson's Kate Winslet in a Titanic re-enactment? (Okay, that sounds weirder than it is.) Emma Thompson being all kinds of fabulous? This movie is worth watching once a week. I guarantee you, it will turn your bad day around.
For a deeper, more philosophical choice, I'll go with Solaris. An astronaut mourning the death of his wife travels into space to investigate the strange goings on in a spaceship sent to explore a new planet, Solaris. Guess who meets him there? If you guessed his dead wife, you're right! If you guessed it turns out she's an alien, or the ship blows up, or anything you've ever seen in a space movie before happens, you're wrong! While there's a mystery to unravel at the core of the film (Dead Wife is not the only unexpected visitor on the ship), it's really a meditation on love and loss and regret, and whether we can ever really know another person. Plus, there are several shots of George Clooney's naked ass, so there. Maybe not such a philosophical choice after all.

- 2012 New Year's Resolution
-
Read 100 Books. I attempted this goal this year, planning to go from June 1, 2011-June 1, 2012. I did not keep up with it the way I should have, and now, to reach my goal, I'd have to read more than three books a week until June. Unlikely, as long as I'm employed. So, I'm planning to start over as of January 1, 2012, and hopefully manage my reading time a little better. I'd really like to cross this one off my life list.
