Slug from Atmosphere eavesdrops on Lucy?
I wouldn't call it eavesdropping, because I don't put forth an effort to listen, but if someone's conversation is loud enough or interesting/provocative enough, I listen. Mostly, the conversations are too mundane to hold my interest.

I don't NEED it, but I do drink it, mainly because I love the smell of brewing coffee. It's a homey aroma, warming aroma.

"Amazing Laughter" sculpture by Yue Minjun
This book immediately came to mind: Me Talk Pretty One Day by humorist David Sedaris. These stories, many about his "crazy" family, will have you screaming in public, so beware. If you've ever struggled in a foreign language class, the title story, "Me Talk Pretty One Day," will strike a chord and a funny bone.
Why do I recommend this kind of book instead of something more inspirational? Because, in my experience, humor is a powerful antidote to sadness and depression.

Right now, it's the smell of fresh laundry. I love to sandwich myself between freshly-washed sheets at night. When I'm walking on my block, I often smell fresh laundry, so I know which house has its own washer and dryer. The brand of detergent or fabric softener is irrelevant. The smell is simply relaxing, calming, reminds me of childhood. It makes me smile and sigh.
