People say all the time that they "wouldn't change anything", everything formed them "the way they are" and other philosophical pacifiers, and I agree on principle. But I'm sure a lot of people have a day that they could do without: mine is Sat 24/11/2007.
What happened: I wish I was sure.
What I learned: That if you push something, it breaks. Especially people.
What I got: 1.5 year (and counting) of strangeness and a couple of sworn enemies (Plural. Undeclared war included. Fun stuff).
Verdict: It's not worth it. We use to say that we learned something, but what I learned I could do without. We use to say that things form us the way we are, but I don't like this new "me", I didn't chose it, it chose me. The truth is, it was a semi-random, semi-willed stupid mistake, that changed radically 1.5 years of my life and keeps doing that. It's not a scar, it's not a medal, it's a stupid car accident in slow motion. Who wouldn't change that?
That beind said, I shaped my life around it so it doesn't matter _that_ much nowadays. But I would like my Saturday back, thank you very much.

Greek/turkish/armenian/u-name-it coffee
Nowadays you can send images and sounds as easily as powering up your PC. But smells.. I want to see you trying to attach the smell of your favorite dish prepared by your mom in an email.
For a greek guy like me who likes coffee (and most of my friends abroad do), it's a godsend. Filter coffee is nice and all, but nothing beats the aroma of your favorite, hometown coffee. Not to mention the ritualistic preparation. Like you never left home..

- Delphi (as in "ancient oracle") is the oldest place I've been
-
I was ready to write "Acropolis" (being Greek, believe me, it was easier than it looks:)) but I realized that Delphi is actually older by something like 3-4 centuries and by far a cooler place to be.
Legend says it was an oracle build by Apollo after killing a she-dragon on the spot. Everybody loves dragons (except Apollo, apparently), so we made a good start. Later on, people realized they were serious money in the religious tourism industry (not to mention "future prediction") and the place developed into a great religious center, more than any single temple could. Most of the then-tourist infrastructure remains intact, and if you add the Delphi museum which is excellent, it makes Delphi a must-see destination if you ever happen to find yourselves in Greece.
More than any ancient place I've visited, it makes you think that we really are not so different from our ancient ancestors. I can easily compare Delphi to at least 4-5 religious destinations around the world today..
