- Sunrise vs. Sunset
-
why yes!
Actually, I like both, for 2 different reasons.
Watching the sun rise from my back deck, (I call it my Tree Fort) and brings with it a joyous celebration of another new day. Native Americans celebrate by offering corn pollen to the rising sun as a gesture of thanksgiving. When laid to rest, facing the rising sun, so the Spirit can greet the morning.
Our sunsets are especially beautiful here; I can't wait until I can be back outside on a warm summer evening, sitting in a lawn chair, knitting and watching the sun slowly sink over the hills across the pond. I find myself reminiscing about my youth, growing up in California; that's where "Home" is and that's also where my heart finds solace. Since my parents have both passed, I find myself often thinking of them often, as I look to the West and exhale, another day coming to a close....

- Professional Goals for the Next Year
-
If you build it, they will come.
My goal for 2011 is to be better at marketing our products, through social networks, newsletters, and emails. It's not enough to just throw it out there, you have to promote, Promote, PROMOTE!, and get noticed.
2010 was same as 2009, in that we held steady. I try not to look at this stage of our business as a glass half-empty, but a glass half-full. Times are tough for everyone, and in our business, I see so many people desperate for a way to bring in a little extra cash, to make ends meet. This is where I excel at helping people to reach for their goals; my positive side takes over, trying to think of ways to help others promote themselves. In Facebook, everyone wants to do the ♥Link Love♥, so at the end of last year, after about 8 months into FB ads, we have now got 4 pages of ♥Link Love♥ Fellowship happening.
So, for 2011, I will continue to work on promoting not only our business, but also each and every other business that we can help get off the ground. It's one way we can keep our struggling economy from falling into complete and utter failure.

- My First Drive
-
Isn't that funny, it's the one thing we never forget!
My first time out, was with my HS Drivers Ed. Instructor, and 3 other classmates.
He took us out into the Auburn foothills, where I had to maneuver some very windy 2-lane roads, crawling along at about 25 miles an hour. It was scary and a huge THRILL all at the same time! I remember how my mouth went dry, as I got behind the wheel for the first time. My heart was racing and I white-knuckled it the whole time.
The Instructor kept telling me, "Give it a little gas!", but I was terrified of going over the side into the ravine, as we climbed higher and higher into the foothills. It looked like a long way down, but looking back, it was probably not that big a drop-off and the roads are probably lined with condos today~
My babysitter at the time, was designated my Student Driver Instructor, after hours. I still had to finish the Drivers Ed. classroom time, complete with the Driving Simulators, but this day was to be my first e-VAR hands-on experience at the actual wheel. I was in my mom's 1974 Monte Carlo. Sweet :)
K. took me to the HS parking lot, where we had wide open spaces to maneuver around. I practiced parking a lot there. It was a cake walk, after the drive into the foothills, the previous time.
After about an hour, I felt so much better, having accomplished several parking tries.
Little did I know, my Graduation Present was already in the works, a new paint job in process, and on Graduation night, The Pickle was mine!

I've survived 4 tornadoes, 4 kids, 1 divorce, and my 50th birthday. All were epic, a couple were failures, my kids are my biggest success stories. All in all, I'm pretty content that I'm where I need to be. :)
