- Three overplayed songs I love anyway
-
New Year's Eve in Boston with Sarah. We found no friends, but ducked in and out of various parties. I'll never forget the way she danced to this song and magnetized me onto a makeshift dance floor.
A great beat. Disrespect for women, yes, but a type of woman who earns the disrespect, so I can nod my head in agreement. Danced to this one with Sarah as well, in a South Beach club called The Pawn Shop, which played, for the most part, indie pop music. I met a beautiful stranger that night - it was probably the best club night I'll ever have.

- If I could tame a wild animal
-
A sloth. He would be very cuddly and verrryyyyy sllllowww... I would feed him on the top shelf of the closet because Sophie and Pierre would otherwise devour his food
...
Scratch that. It would have to be the ring-tailed lemur, because I realized that there's not much chance of success in toilet training a sloth - he'd never make it there in time.
Do I really want another animal? Maybe not. The apartment would get too messy. Sophie and Pierre are perfect and using the toilet like humans. I'd rather just visit other animals.
But I could have a friend-pet squirrel in the park. Magically, it wouldn't bite and give me rabies when I tie a ribbon around its neck for quick recognition. I would bring it the best squirrel food every day and teach it tricks. I'd make clothes and props for it. Friends and admirers would marvel at my Snow White skilz. Rugs do not enter this equation.

A rather disappointing deficit of character from a second man I dated made me realize that animals are a better bet while I invest in my own life. Sounds bitter? Perhaps, but I'll be open to the right someone changing my mind one day, and in the meantime, there are plenty of cuddles to be had.

In the heart of the ghetto it hangs onto its tarnished glamor and old-school charm. I used to hang out behind the VIP balcony, now I'm welcomed into it.
