I'm going to take make a stand and say that if can pick one favorite summer memory than you have not truly enjoyed those short months. I for one can't pick between mornings in my childhood backyard in DC before the heat got too oppressive, ateen evening with friends at Rehobeth beach, hot nights driving along the George Washington parkway for the view and the curves, lying back and watching the stars in New Mexico, the sound of Chet Baker playing in a sweltering Beacon Hill apartment, running to the esplanade just in time for the 4th of July fireworks, a sunset dinner at Crane's beach, blueberry picking bachanalia, a lazy sunset in Maine. Summer is about opportunity for spontaneity and enjoyment on the fly.
