    • If I were a flavour ...
      • vanilla pod

        Vanilla.

Some people think it's bland, boring, even tasteless. People who don't know me well see only one side of me & think that's all I am - they do not know the depths of my personality, my many talents and skills, just like most people do not understand or respect or appreciate the humble vanilla.
There are too many things out there that masquerade as vanilla, and so often they are synthetic or boring or ordinary or cheap or tasteless - the word vanilla has become synonymous with "bland" or "plain" yet the real thing is dark, sophisticated, with a rich flavour that is multi-facetted, and like the real thing, I'm all about quality over quantity!

    • Would I rather run a marathon or climb a mountain?
      • well, in order to do either I think I'd need to be a lot fitter than I currently am! I am not a runner - I would definitely prefer to climb a mountain than run a marathon! Marathons are about determination and training, mountains also require skill, but they are also far more challenging & fun - running is so flat and one dimensional! .
I have seen the Alps but I've never done real mountaineering - maybe one day ...

    • If I Could Be a Professional Critic ...
      • Plate of Barbecue

Oh I would totally love to be a food critic!
I don't think I'd be any good at it with all my allergies/intolerances as the dishes I could actually taste would be so limited, but the opportunity to try all sorts of different things in all sorts of different environments would be fab :)

    • 10 Things to do by the end of the year
      • I didn't quite manage to finish my 101 in 1001 (101 activities in 1001 days) but did pretty well! For a new challenge, by the end of 2011 I would like to have:

        1) spent a week at Guide Camp (Charnwood 2011)
        2) restarted my Guide training licence (in progress!)
        3) found a job
        4) documented the first 10 years of HGCs
        5) hacked the rest of the overgrown shrubbery back in the garden
        6) sorted a sideboard or unit for the living room to store the scrapbooks
        7) visited a new town or city in the UK
        8) taken a craft class of some sort
        9) sorted out the blanket chest so it only contains blankets
        10) grown something in the garden that isn't weeds!

    • the night sky ...
      • 2009 Leonid Meteor

can you believe that I have never seen a shooting star?

I don't know how common they are, and I accept that looking at the night sky is something I only really get to do when at camp, as light pollution prevents it the rest of the time, but everyone else seems to see loads!
