    • Explanations, not excuses!
      • I can not lie. I am the worst faker. I have no poker face. I can barely keep a surprise a secret for God's sake. I can not craft good excuses because that usually involves lying, so I go the other way. I throw myself on the mercy of the court with total honesty and admitting when I am at fault. Being honest and candid will usually win over the person who deserves the explanation. Also I might cry if I think you are going to be mad at me. I can't help it, I am ridiculously sensitive. So there you have it, honesty, admit fault, cry- no excuses.

    • First Kisses in Fremont Ca
      • I kissed my husband at 17!

That's right Jason is the first and only boy I have ever kissed. I find that both embarrassing and sweet at the same time.

It was the Summer after my Junior year of high school, I had had a very, VERY unfortunate prom experience and there were no prospects of a summer romance on my radar. Being 17 years old and having never been kissed, I was starting to lose hope that it would ever happen. In my darkest moments I feared that I might die, kissless. That Summer I yearned, oh how I yearned to be kissed. I was sure it was going to be the greatest moment in my life, but where was he? Where was this boy who would make history in my life, never to be forgotten?

Well apparently he was right down the street. One day after having found out who I was from a mutual friend, Jason walked straight up to my door and asked me out on a date. This handsome, lifeguard, whole year older than me- boy had just shown up at my door and asked ME out on a date. I had no idea how or why this was happening to me.

We saw each other for the next four days. At the end of each night he went in for a peck on the cheek, what a gentleman. But I could feel it brewing, the kiss was coming, but when? and how would I know what to do? If he tried to kiss me, would he be able to tell that I had never been kissed? Maybe then he'd never do it again! My head was spinning and my friends wanted to kill me. Their advice, just let it happen, and it will all fall into place.

It was a Friday night when he came to the door to pick me up, the energy between us could have lit a small town and I knew tonight would be my night. We drove up to the hills in Fremont, found a construction site with a great view of the bay and then it happened. I had been kissed, FINALLY!

I had no idea then that his kiss would be the only one I would ever know. I often think of how blessed I am, he was definitely worth the wait.

    • The Little House by Virgina Lee Burton brings me back
      • Escapism in the First Grade

When I was in first grade I was completely entranced by this book. The illustrations are still to this day, some of the sweetest I have ever seen. The house is on a hillside out in the country- a perfect tree lined road leads up to the house that is surrounded by fields and a stream. In the fall the trees are full of leaves of brilliant red and orange. In the winter there is a perfect place for sledding. In the Spring the blossoms are so sweet and in the Summer the stream is just right for swimming. It was perfect. I remember just starring at the pages and letting my imagination take me right into the book, I was in my own little world. Looking back now, I probably used that book to escape because I had the meanest first grade teacher ever known, but Plinky ol' pal that's a story for a different day...

    • My bucket list starts with: Safari in Africa
      • Safari in Africa
I just must see Africa, elephants roaming freely, lions at the water hole, a must for sure.

        Drive across the USA
I know that I will only do this one time in my life, but I need to see it all- the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone. Just us and the kids, a really great RV, and the open road.

Attend a taping of the Oprah show, so we can commence our friendship, What?
I have been watching Oprah since I was about 11 years old. She' s practically a second mother to me! A lot of the conversations I have start off with me saying, "the other day on Oprah..." I admit it, I totally geek out for O.

See all of Europe, not all at once
I have been to England and Scotland, but that of course is just the beginning. When the kids are old enough to remember I want to take them everywhere!!! I want to bask in the sun in the South of France, I want to cook delicious food in Tuscany, I want to shop for anything in Paris, drink beer during Octoberfest in Germany- I can't wait!

        Learn how to sail
I think sailing, on a calm day, is one of the most relaxing things I have ever done. Of course all I really did was enjoy the view and drink some wine, so maybe I'm good with that.
