    • The day I met a rattle snake
      • I don't have anything against snakes in general, but there was a time when I was a child that gave me a healthy respect for the creatures.

        Rattle Snake in Towlsey Canyon

I spent a portion of my childhood on a ranch in Eastern Colorado where there was plenty of opportunity to run into wild animals of all sorts. My brother and I had been playing near dad's work shed one evening, towards evening. Since it was getting late, dad sent us to the house. Instead of taking the direct route, we decided to head down the hill following the circular driveway past the barn.
When we were directly opposite the barn, off to the left up the wash I heard the distinctive rattle of a rattle snake.
Needless to say, we were a little shaken and bolted away from the spot at full throttle, me pushing my brother ahead of me. We arrived at the house breathless and more than a little shaky. Of course, when we told dad what had happened, he scolded us for running.
Apparently, you shouldn't run from a rattler, Wish we would have known that before we came across one. We came across a few a time or two after that. We would stay perfectly still until it went away or got far enough away we could make a run for it.
To this day, rattlers give me the creeps.

    • On Sneezing
      • You hear someone sneeze, do you automatically say "Bless you!"? Ever wonder why we still do that?

        Cat Sneeze

This is a really good question. I know a little about the historic reasons why the tradition got started. Apparently, there are those who believed that part of your soul would leave your body every time you sneezed.
Today, I think we still hold to this tradition out of courtesy for others. Maybe on day we'll get out of this sill habit.

    • I recommend checking out Stonehenge when you're in Salisbury
      • When I get over to England, aside from seeing my in-laws, I hope to do a few really touristy things

There are several reasons I would love to see this amazing place, mostly because it is so ancient and so skillfully conceived.

    • Technology's Impact on Families
      • For my family, meaning my older half-siblings and their kids, are mostly scattered all over the country. We have found that social networks like Facebook have allowed us to reconnect and interact with each other. Most of these people I have not seen for nearly 15 years.

So, to me it is a very positive thing.
