    • Confessions of a Magazine Junkie
      • I think I subscribe to more, but these are the ones I can list without getting off the couch.

        Martha Stewart Living
Whatever your opinion of her, she's got taste and a very creative staff.

        Home Companion
This magazine was discontinued this year, much to my dismay. It was full of artist fodder.

        Cottage Living
This was also discontinued this year, and what a shame, great ideas on small cottage renovation and decorating.

        Family Fun
        Good craft ideas for children.

        Cookie
        Good shopping ideas for children.

        Cook's Illustrated
How to for great cooking. No ads. Great reviews of equipment, supplies, etc.

        Bon Appetit
        More cooking.

        Food
Great quick ideas. Love the small format.

        People
        Shameful addiction.

        Mothering
A nice diversion into the natural parenting realm.

        Handyman
        Projects for around the house.

    • Always Right
      • The advice I was given was "Pick your fights." However, for me it has turned into "Is it better to be compassionate or to be right?" I often feel like I'm right (smiling) and when I was younger that was enough for me to take issue with things. But as I get older I realize that being compassionate is more rewarding that being right.

    • Luxury Bathroom
      • It may sound weird, but my favorite room in this house is my bathroom. I was six months pregnant when we bought this house and it was totally because of the huge master bathroom with a whirlpool tub, tile shower, double sink, big closet and enough room to meditate in. I thought I would give birth in that room, but instead it was the living room, just because we needed more room for the birthing tub. Still, when I'm stressed, that's the room I run to. I can sit in there and feel calm, or take a bath and feel renewed.

    • My trip from Monterey, CA to Columbus, MS
      • I was visiting home before moving overseas to Germany. I was 21 years old; it was the first time I had ever seen other parts of the country. I was amazed by the scenery, especially the plateaus and deserts. I ate constantly and gained 3 pounds.
