        3. September 11th. I was 19. It was grilled cheese and tomato soup day in the dining room where I went to college. I went around to all the rooms on my floor telling the girls to turn on their TVs and see what was happening. They curled their hair. I cried.

    • My Dream Vacation

      • I don't have a "dream vacation" in mind, though there are a few details I'd hope to have present were such a vacation ever to become a reality: the company of friends and family; 73 degrees and sunny; horseback riding; time for sleeping in; time for writing and relaxing with a few good books; movie nights; afternoon walks; delicious, carby food; kayaking; play time with our crazy but beloved pets; twilight walks; drink specials at towny bars; taking lots of pictures and videos; (one of my ferrets just started snoring...); night walks...

    • That Special Book in My Life

      • I could (and have!) read "Invitation to the Game" over and over. It's a young adult fiction novel I first discovered in... 5th grade? It was love at first read. One chapter in and I was absolutely hooked. Monica Hughes you are my hero!

        Over the years I've purchased additional copies whenever I've come across them for cheap (library sales, garage sales, etc.) so I can give them away to others. And how many times have I read it myself? Oh my gosh-- more times than I can remember. So much fun.

    • I wasn't that impressed with Grand Canyon

      • Don't get me wrong, now. "Freaking cool" is definitely an apt description! But when you're looking down at it in bits and pieces alongside teeming masses of humanity in the dead heat of summer it kinda leaves something to be desired.

        I think I'd've enjoyed it more myself had I been able to check out the bottom of the canyon a bit on a hike or a kayak trip or something. At least then it can be experienced instead of just looked at.
