I'm one of the lucky ones, I don't get the normal stage fright when I have to speak in front of a crowd. I can't say I don't get nervous, but who doesn't get those lil' butterflies in their stomach? We all want to do a good job with our speech, so the nerves I think are a good thing.
I think my comfort stems from my long history of public speaking. I've been speaking in front of 'crowds' since I was a sophomore in high school - when I had to give the end of the year sports banquet speech for our small high school swim team.
I can't tell you if I've gotten any better or worse with my speeches?
I find humor is a great ice breaker - but then again who doesn't?
I had to speak in front of a crowd just a few months ago for a school project, and I believe I'll be doing it again in a couple weeks.
Woo hoo!

I have this dream in a far off land that we could actually have a show that depicts and represents nurses and the nursing profession as properly as possible.
I know, drama and action are what draws viewers, so it would have to have a good story line since not all of nursing is all that exciting.
Maybe a reality show on surviving nursing school? Or a reality show on being a new nurse in a fast-paced environment like the ED or ICU?
Anything that would get the public away from the white caps, white uniforms, doctor's hand-maidens, and sexy nurse myths and over generalizations.

Hmm..
Dare to dream.

I follow my heart AND my head. Using (or thinking) with one and not the other will lead to regrets, empty closure, and further need. Your head keeps you in the game of 'life'. You need to follow the rules, but know when to bend or break them, and knowing the consequences of veering off that path.
Your heart is where your happiness lies. You can let your head direct you anywhere you like, if your heart is not into it, if your heart is not a part of the decision - then the effects of the decision will be detrimental to your well-being.
A checks and balances sort of system maybe. One helps the other, and in the end it keeps you and your life in balance.

The struggle of the (real & fictional) lead character always tugs at my heart strings. Seeing how someone can beat all the odds, keep getting knocked down, and KEEP getting back up to try again and try harder.
The perseverance of the human spirit always amazes me.
Seeing the 'good guy' win will always be a favorite in my heart.

I have strong beliefs that step within and outside the realm of religion and spirituality. I think 'outside the box' while keeping my feet on the ground (most times).
I neither agree or disagree with religious beliefs. I simply respect them for what they are for whomever follows them.
I myself believe in many things plausible, but more importantly I have beliefs that are not tangible and can only be 'felt'.
Spiritual, religious, or something else? I think I'm all the above, but none of the above.
While the history and fervor of this book speaks volumes I guess I should have realized the age and era this book was written.
The lessons taught and learned throughout the book are of course massive and moving to anyone who can take a step back and understand them, but the book just seemed rudimentary. But, now that I type those words, maybe that was the intent of the book?
Lessons were learned, but expectations were not met.
An overall good book.

It was everything. The plot line, the actors, and the physical comedy all rolled into one. I haven't seen a movie with this kind of laughter in quite some time. The combination of Will Smith and Kevin James just rattled your funny bone from start to finish.
I often go back and watch this movie for a good laugh, when needed.

What I do for a living is of course a priority in my life. I would not give up or change my occupation simply because we move.
In the same breath, I enjoy my location because of family and friends being nearby.
So I don't believe one is more 'important' than the other. I believe they are dependent upon each other. A healthy balance of both is needed.

I've been lucky enough to hold onto the one who 'almost' got away. Well honestly it wasn't that she got away, more like I pushed her away.
My beautiful wife and I 'danced' quite a bit before we figured it out. We were meant to be together and were better together than apart.
I am where I am today because she's in my life and is my wife.
Ahh... I'm glad she didn't get away.

It was a movie loosely based on a real character and his real-life struggles. He was never meant to succeed at anything beyond the family occupation.
He was belittled by his family, never gained support from his community and went out on his own to pursue his own dream.
He failed numerous times - came close to quitting each time but never gave up.
His will to succeed and his passion trumped everything around him.
In the end he learned that his will to never quit and 'can do' attitude was so infectious and so respected that he gained the awe and support of everyone around him while achieving his personal goals.
He never quit.
