- My Must-See TV
-
TV addiction is a term used frequently these days however I rarely sit down to watch TV on a regular basis. Despite this there are a few shows which I always make sure without fail that I see even if they are usually in the DVD format released after showing on TV.
24 24 24 24 24, no that isn't a simple arithmetic sum it's me giddily repeating the name of one of my favourite TV shows of all time, 24. Now I know the idea of Jack Bauer grunting through 24 episodes of anti-terrorism ass kicking isn't everyone's cup of tea but I have enjoyed it since series 1 and religiously stuck with it through all 8 series and have never been disappointed.
Another TV series that has unfortunately come to an end but took up many hours of my life was The Shield. How I sat with pure excitement at the twists and turns that Vic Mackey and his crew went through whilst trying to be dirty cops with heart. However nothing could of been more disappointing when this TV series came to an end and it has been sorely missed
A show that not only ended but was cancelled from TV was a show called The Unit, which followed a group of special forces operatives and their seemingly unimaginable missions.
Finally a show that is still glueing me to the TV screen is the Sons of Anarchy. This show about a ruthless motorcycle gang with ethics has become one of my all time favourites and I'm waiting with bated breath for season 4.

- Top Albums I Listened to While Growing Up
-
I love listening to alternative music and have been doing since I was about 13 years old. Bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden have been around with me all that time and still feature on my playlists, but one band and one album in particular started this new direction in my musical taste.
Well after an embarrassing period of musical taste in my life that consisted of Hanson and a mish mash of other genres I began listening to rap music. This was mainly due to following the crowd and listening to what was mainstream at the time, that being Eminem and Dr.Dre. Now I have to say at this early age I never really felt like I enjoyed music, perhaps I didn't understand it but I think it was because I wasn't listening to the right kind. So after a few months of subjecting my parents to songs about gangs, Ho's and copious amounts of foul language, I was introduced to an album that changed my whole outlook on music and influence my taste even to this day. That album was Conspiracy of One by the Offspring, and this came at a time when the likes of Blink 182 and Green Day were at their height and punk rock was the alternative way to live. I remember getting the chills down my back as I listened to the tracks over and over again and I still enjoy that album just as much today and regularly listen to it. It helped me decide my own taste in music and developed my taste into what I enjoyed listening to and not what was popular at school.

- A Reality Show I'd Try Out For
-
There are only a few reality programmes I enjoy watching and even fewer that I would like to try out for, but one of them has always inspired me to chase that goal.
I love anything that challenges me both physically and mentally but also something that is a very unique adventure. This brings me onto the reality tv show that I have always wanted to try out for which is called Last Man Standing. This had 2 series on the BBC and pitted athletes against eachother and against some of the most remote tribes on earth... on their own turf.
The athletes will encounter wrestling, endurance running, archery and even water-buffalo racing in the ultimate test of strength, skill, stamina and stick-fighting. The athletes go into each event blind - so no advance preparation is possible. They're trained by a local expert and then compete by the rules of the tribe.
So naturally this immediately appealed to my tastes and was one of the very few reality shows I really enjoyed watching. I just had this dream of participating in an adventure of a lifetime whereby I'm not only challenging myself with the competition but I would also get to see remote parts of the world and experience cultures only few have had the pleasure to do so.

- If Money Were No Object
-
If money were no object and I could do any courses/training I wanted and go anywhere I like to work, here are a few career choices I would pursue.
I love my fitness and anything to do with health and well being, I also love teaching and instructing. My first pursuit would be to open up my own gym back home offering the normal get up with all the mod cons, however I would also offer training classes specifically catered to helping guys get fit for joining the Armed Forces with sessions unique to military PT.
I got quite a buzz whilst working in EOD in the military so my second pursuit would be to help train the local population in finding and deactivating old mine fields, helping them live in a safer environment.
Finally, after my work in Afghanistan I have taken a great interest in the country's history and current situation. I would love to train to become a journalist and do some extensive work on not just the war, but other stories that make the country what it is today. If money didn't matter

- Music I've Been Listening To Recently
-
After ignoring it for so long I have finally found a use for that little button at the bottom left of my I Tunes that is the shuffle.
Metallica - Master Of Puppets LP
I'm a sucker for buying a new album and listening to it over and over again until I get bored of it and neglecting the rest of my music, the most recent example being the album Passive Me, Aggressive You by the Naked and Famous. So I have now solved this by using the almighty shuffle button whenever listening to my music and it has put me back in touch with some of the bands and songs I have not listened to in so long. Songs that I listened to growing up by bands like Metallica, The Offspring and Iron Maiden to name a few. It has definitely been a breath of fresh air and a welcome change from always wanting to buy a new album due to being bored of the one I have just played to death.
