In 6th grade I modified an air pump for a fish tank to pump water down a christmas light bedazzled clay river. My parents were convinced I was going to electrocute myself, yet seemed to think that supporting my creativity was more important.

When I actually plugged the apparatus into the wall we were all expecting the lights to dim accompanied by a loud humming sound, but wouldn't you know it worked perfectly!
