    • Best Compliment I've Gotten In a While
      • During my last clinical day, my nurse seemed very cold and unhappy when I first met her in the morning. I was really surprised because I had overheard her talking with a co-worker and she seemed like the exact opposite! As the day went on, she opened up and her attitude toward me changed. She was letting me do assessments, give meds, and chart everything. Later she told me that she has worked with a bunch of unmotivated and annoying nursing students lately and but she said she was so impressed with me! She said that she was so glad that I had so much experience and that I wanted to do as much as possible and she was thankful that I was able to help her so much during our busy shift! She even joked that she was going to give me her pager and take a long lunch because I was handling things so well.

It was great to hear her say that, and to be the person who (hopefully) changed her attitude about nursing students.

    • What I'd Say to My 16-Year-Old Self
      • That boy you like is nice and he can help you learn a lot about relationships, but he is not the greatest thing in the world. There will be other, better people out there for you.

You are not fat! You are at a healthy weight. But you need to work out and eat right because it won't stay that way for long. You're going to have to work really hard for weight loss later on so if you try to get a start on it now, it may help.

You are really great at music. You could be even better if you ACTUALLY practiced your instrument!

Feel lucky because you have a great job, with a great boss and wonderful coworkers. You can work after school and make enough money to pay for gas and clothes... the important things. $20 left in your bank account may seem tragic, but trust me, one day you will WISH you had at least $20. Listen to your mom about savings. Be wise with your money.

Even though you can't stand most of your classmates and wish you could speed up to college, try to enjoy the time now. College really isn't that much better. You will always have to deal with idiots. Hang on to the friends you really like and you'll be fine.

Don't be such a spoiled brat about your car. You asked for a jetta, and your parents were nice enough to get you one. They never said you'd get a brand new one! Not all kids are lucky enough to even have their parents buy them a car when they turn 16. You are very lucky.

    • What I Believe (or Don't)
      • I have never believed in a "God" and organized religion is definitely not for me! That being said, I do consider myself a "spiritual" person--I feel it most when I am out in nature.
