In this hectic thing called life, it's good to know that thinking about these things will keep a smile on my face:

I'm Learning to Trust Myself
After adolescence is scooped up and thrown out the window and you've reached mid to late 20's, it's nice to finally starting thinking about letting go of insecurities. I've only very recently come to the conclusion that this is my life and I deserve to be happy. I'm still working on the foundation of this way of thinking. But although it's a slow going process, I know that it's going to hold up some pretty strong walls.

I'm Spending Time with my Grandfather
My grandmother died a little over a year ago. She left behind a grieving family and a husband who literally could not live without her. My grandfather has diabetes and needs to constantly be looked after because he has no concept of how to keep himself healthy. My husband and I moved in with him, and although it was hard at first, it's gotten better and better. I'm learning more about my grandfather than I ever knew before and I really love having that strong bond with him now, that none of my other extended family will ever experience. It's special and I'm happy just knowing that I'm there for him.

My Job
I read on CNN the other day about a man in WI who was laid off from GMC. GMC offered about 25% of the 1300 laid off workers jobs in other plants. This particular man was offered a position in TX. Rather than uprooting his family, yanking his kids out of school mid-semester and selling their house at really a fraction of it's value, this man decided to commute 1,000 miles to his new job in TX. There was a video in this article and as I watched it I just felt my eyes fill with tears. Thinking about it now gets me kind of going. Anyways. Seeing this story made me much more appreciative of my current job, which is incredibly stable yet flexible enough to allow me to extra activities in my free time (theater, karaoke, art, etc.). So even though working isn't on the top of my list of preferable activities, having a good job in this crazy economy is something that makes me happy. :)

three little kittens

These cute little fur balls make me forget everything that's upsetting/frustrating me right now and just makes me want to pick one up and cuddle. Kittens are too damn cute.
