I hung out mainly with a mix of popular people (I was sort of a pet) and drama nerds (which is why I was sort of a pet with the popular kids). I get that h.s. is a time for socializing, but I wish I'd spent a wee bit more time hitting the books.

My grandfather made me read this the first time; I read it on my own the next 4 or 5 times. A wonderful fictionalized history of world religion: no matter what you believe (or don't), you won't look at it the same way post-Source.

Caveat: the framing device, an archeological dig with a (blech) love story, is eminently skippable. Just sayin'!
