      • Goldenrod Flower

        She stumbles out of bed and feels a scratching in the back of her throat. It is September, after all, and the goldenrod is taking over the backyard. Looking at the clock by the bed, she sees 4:03. No, no, no. Too early. She tries to get comfortable and go back to sleep. No luck. At 4:14 the smell of coffee fills the kitchen. She decides to start the day early and get stuff done.

        After taking a sip of scalding hot black coffee, she remembers her throat hurts. No yardwork today. Bummer. Maybe a shower will help. While she's getting dressed, something new comes to her attention- a headache. Maybe she should have stayed in bed. Now off to the kitchen for more decongestant and coffee...

    • This Book =Great, but don't want to wait!!!

      • I have been reading Dean Koontz it seems forever. I had no idea this was a series (entirely my fault for not knowing). Short answer: I read this entire book and the story just stopped. "Stay tuned for blah blah blah coming in the spring of 2011". WHAT?!??! I want to read the rest RIGHT NOW! I actually considered emailing Dean for an advance copy. I feel pretty dumb for getting "out of the loop". Now I know. And, by the way, will be waiting until spring 2011. Thanks, Mr. Koontz.

        Blue Marble (Planet Earth)

        I'm not sure how to answer this one... I am Pagan, so all three. I was raised Catholic, then because of a boyfriend became Baptist, then looked inward and realized I'm really a dirt loving, tree hugging Pagan. (Blessed be to any Pagans reading this) And I've never looked back. "I Yam who I Yam" (Bird by Bird) However, that being said, I haven't told anybody but the hubs and certain friends. I'm not ashamed of my choice, but I feel grossly misunderstood. I think it's a shame that Paganism is not a "recognized religion". My children know, and they recycle, love and respect the creatures they find outside and treat this planet with the respect it deserves. My daughter may be the first female president. One can only dream. I can now die happy.

    • This Movie Always Gets to Me

      • Oh, boy.

        We get to know and love "Ritchie", only to (spoiler alert) watch his mother screaming his name at the end of the movie. I cried when I first saw this movie years ago, and now that I have children of my own, it hurts 150 times more. Not only that, but every time I hear the song "American Pie", I totally lose it. Usually in the car, while I'm belting it out like Janis Joplin, with the kids in the backseat.
