I was probably playing guitar when i realized that my personality could be the key to making a living. I'd been a band nerd, but getting out from behind the line of flag girls and fronting a band put so many things together - business, relationships, and the occasional brush with law enforcement. My sophomore year in high school was the best.

I find the 1960's particularly fascinating, because I think it provided the biggest break in social continuity in at least the past 100 years. (The '20s and the '00s may be runners up, or am I projecting a forty year cycle on things?) Because I was born in the '60s, I'm sure some of the fascination is simply with viewing the world of my infancy and preschool years through adult eyes - sort of the primordial soup of my consciousness.
While scandal and a breakdown in trust is a constant, the '60s had a bumper crop of it. While Vietnam was certainly not the first unjustified war the US engaged in, it was perhaps the first which the public realized AT THE TIME. While Kennedy was not the first president assassinated, his was the first (and so far, thankfully, only) presidential assassination caught on film and the aftermath televised. People thought at the time that the fabric of society was breaking down. Perhaps in some ways it did.
