- Next birthday, I'd like to go to The Oregon Wisconsin Summerfest
-
2010-isn't there a movie about that?
The Oregon Wisconsin Summerfest
It's HELD on my birthday! Far-out! Cool beanz! They celebrate my birthday every year in Oregon, Wisconsin, and I used to live there.
Ride all the rides and holler my lungs out!
Riding carnival rides and screaming your lungs out has been proven to reduce stress. And reducing stress can help you live longer.

Come Saturday Morning reminds me of junior high's anticipation, looking at my cousin Kaere's Seventeen magazine, plaid skirts and knee-high socks, and when burning piles of leaves was still eco-friendly. It also makes me think of Paul, picking me up in Fredwreck, the red Impala, travelling down the roads of Dane and Green counties and arriving home Saturday night for dinner.
I first heard Who'll Stop The Rain at Glenn's house-he played and sang it for me, a devoted audience of one. It was a week or so before I heard it on WISM as the B-side of Travelin' Band. It wasn't until the 90's before I heard it more often than their 'Have You Ever Seen The Rain'.
I'd been going with this guy for five years. For about six months I was aware he was seeing someone his daughter had introduced him to, but given our history, I wasn't really worried. Then I didn't hear from him for a few weeks. Sheryl Crow was on a show with Vince Gill and sang "Are You All Right". What timing. With dread I e-mailed his son. He'd gotten married.
I should point out that we did live 500 miles apart-slightly geographically difficult. She did live in the same town. Love doesn't conquer all. But we still write. And he is, basically, all right.

- A film snob's review :=)

Off the Map is worth the trip.
Campbell Scott's adaptation of Joan Ackerman's play is filmed in New Mexico-a place so enchanting that you fall under its spell the way the mysterious stranger that walks into Bo Groden's life does, the summer her father was depressed. Saying too much more gives too much away. Sam Elliott, Joan Allen, Jim True-Frost and the area around Taos and Questa give beautiful and understated performances. Campbell Scott's commentary has made me watch every film I've seen since in a new light. I also recommend reading the play, if possible.
Given the cast and the director, I expected something interesting-this was more like finding a real ruby ring in your Cracker Jacks box.

- Hi! 'I'm drunk and obnoxious, can I have my air hockey puck back?'

I'm drunk and obnoxious, can I have my air hockey puck back?
Do I really have to say much more than this? I will add that I had been telling my friend Tricia, that the only guys I met in bars when I was with her seemed to be the obnoxious drunk ones. Coincidence? I don't think so.
I am joking, obviously.

I'm waiting for the right person-there are some films you can watch with any old person; but I don't believe that this is one.
