The life of a bartender

I get people drunk, or at least I used to when I was a bartender. I put up with crap all day long and I drink to tolerate the nonsense that goes on in my work environment. I leave the job and I drink more to forget all that I've endured to make ends meet for my three wonderful children, after all it is for them that I put up with all the crap that I do, or at least this is what I tell myself. I love my children and I want to be able to offer them more than a "welfare mom" could. I use the term loosely and do not mean to offend anyone, I too was a part of the system for a short while until I tried to make ends meet to feed my kids the macaroni and balogna dinners. I want to be able to take them to McDonalds like their classmates would be treated to occassionally. I also wanted to dress my children in clothes that didn't come from the second hand store, after all I grew up in hand-me-downs and I knew how it felt to be rediculed at school.

So ya back to what I was saying, I would go to work, put on my best smile even if I felt like shit and I'd be in my short skirts to make the almighty tips and the drinks flowed all evening long. I would use sarcasim when the drunks would hit on me, I would have yet another drink to keep me going. Sometimes when I drank enough my job was so much fun, hell I didn't even want to have to call last call, this would mean that the party was over.

I would have to tell the people who had drank too much, generally ALL of them, to go home, offer them a cab and lock the doors behind them. Nights when I could still count I would tally up the take for the night, count what was mine and what was for the boss and then I'd lock up the bar and go home to my empty bed and sleeping children. It really was for them.

I didn't mean to become an alcoholic and almost die on them, it just happened.

Yup, that's my work day in a nutshell.

A shark by far IF the fight was in the water, if it was on land there'd be no fight, the bear would be having a feast!

I am always trying to incorporate into my crazy, hectic, schedule new ways to get exercise, any suggestions from anyone?

I take the stairs instead of the elevator when I am in school, I am on the sixth floor and up and down 920 stairs on full days. I like to walk and I am a part time cook which keeps me hopping.
I have bought an exercise bike but just haven't gotten into a routine yet, I have to quit using it as a clothes rack and start riding it soon, bathing suit weather will be here soon, I hope!
