- What Keeps Me Up at Night
-
It's the moose calls that keep your ears open at two o'clock in the morning. (Not many people would be able to get this reference)
It's onemanga closing down.
Nah.
Thing is, it's pretty difficult to keep myself up at night; I sleep out of necessity not out of routine. I eat when I'm hungry, sleep when I'm tired and exercise when I feel unhealthy.
But if there really had to be one thing that keeps me up at night, it would be one of those deep trances I go into when I start thinking hard and thinking deep about things which most likely wouldn't affect my life (or the physical world, as a matter of fact) at all. It's like those KI questions you get in exams- apart from the fact that in my case, theories are derived from examples (much like how the Scientific Method works) rather than how examples are listed to support theories. (e.g. "how do you know the red I see is the red you see?" This then leads to the problems of perception etc.)
Thing is, is going into a deep trance qualified as being "up at night"? Because in that trance I'm still able to "store" all the arguments and conclusions I made into memory and yet, at the same time, I'm not quite awake. Who knows.

- My Dream Vacation
-
Holy shit. You have NO idea.
Well, my dream vacation is, firstly, one where there are no time constraints. I don't have to plan "I'll stay at this place for 2 days, then move to this place for 3 days" and blah blah blah. I will stay at one area for as long as I deem fit before moving on to another. Many times I stay at some town for too long a time just because my plane doesn't arrive till then, or I'd leave the place sorely missing it because I only got to spend a couple of days there. Time constraints are really sucky.
Secondly, I would have an unlimited budget. Hur hur. It sucks to go all the way to another country and not be able to do/buy whatever you want simply because you don't have enough moolah.
Thirdly, I would have my dream tech-pack with me! (I risk sounding like a geek here) My tech-pack would include: A Sony NEX5, an iPad (to transfer my photos and charge my camera), a Blackberry 9800 (for GPS), my iPod Classic and maybe a netbook in my main luggage. Can't help but to admit that technology plays a huge role in my enjoyment.
Fourth, world class lodging. I don't believe in roughing it out, alright? It's MY dream vacation.
Fifth, the right people. Surprisingly, this is the most difficult factor to attain of them all. The right people would make the trip infinitely more enjoyable but just one sucky person can ruin it all.

- When I started using the Internet
-
'Twas a long, long time ago. I never was a fan of computer games (not really am not, either) but I was in this public library in my neighbourhood when I was about seven and I saw this really awesome game some other kid was playing on the public computer before the grumpy librarian chased him away. (You're not supposed to play games on public computers, apparently)
So I kinda realised that the Internet would be an awesome substitute for Kids Central and started Googling everything and anything. Then came Neopets. Then Youtube. Then Maplestory. Then Facebook. Then... You get the idea.
The Internet must be one of the most awesome things ever invented.
PS: I'm STILL googling everything now.

- My Favorite Quote of All Time
-
"Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose honest arrogance and have seen no occasion to change."
- Frank Lloyd Wright
This is the truest quote of them all. I relate to it so well. Being in Singapore and surrounded mainly by my Chinese peeps, humility has become a treasured virtue. (Not that the non-Chinese would mind someone being humble in front of them either)
But the truth is, I see no reason in being so humble. I find it utterly hypocritical and pointless, even to the point of being counter-productive. I see, in productions, at least a dozen times when someone being overly humble resulting in things going much slower than what it could have been.
Just what are you planning to do by degrading yourself in front of people who most likely aren't as good as you are?
Blend in?
Make them feel better about themselves?
Thing is, if one has to pretend that his better qualities are worthless/ non-existent around his friends, are these people really his friends? And what is the point of making another person feel better about himself if all it results in is you not being truthful to the person and the person being all self-satisfied and indulgent in the fact that his friend is an idiot like he is? If all your friend can think of is what good qualities he lack instead of what good qualities he possesses, it's the wrong mindset in the first place.
No one is absolutely stupid or talent-less. Some people just have a much lower ability in many things than others. That doesn't mean that these people ought to dwell on their worthlessness; I've seen people who truly aren't gifted in things society places a higher value on, but yet still being able to make themselves useful.
Arrogance may be loosely defined as overbearing pride; arrogance is definitely not falsely placed pride. Frank Lloyd Wright has taken the care to specify "honest" arrogance, because frankly, EVERYONE has a right to be so goddamn proud in what they do and how they do it well, even if it means irritating the shit out of everyone else.
