- The Best Advice I Ever Received
-
A book changed my life!
Did you know that words create? That's right! Words have created the world you live in at this very moment. Words have created the world I live in at this very moment.
Our words are forerunners. Every word we speak establishes events that are to come in our lives. That's right. Your words go ahead of you and prepare the way before you. The words you have spoken in the past have gone ahead of you and prepared your present.
Did I know that 20 years ago? Not until I read a little book by Don Goss called "What You Say Is What You Get". That book contained the best advice I've ever received. That little book changed the course of my life!
I was so ignorant back then. All I knew to do was how to be a wife, a mother, and work in a dead-end job. Don't get me wrong, I loved being a wife and mother. I would not trade those years for anything! We had six children and they kept my life very interesting!
What I am saying is that my life could have been so much richer, had I known that my words create, before I became a wife and mother. Not only my life, but the lives of my husband, my children and even my grandchildren.
But, we start where we are, don't we? I read that little book that day, and the next day, and the next day. I must have read it about 8 or 9 times!
That book had so many highlighted areas in it after reading it the first 3 times, that I changed the color of the highlighter. In fact, I changed the color about 4 times! There's hardly an area in the book that isn't colored!
Would I recommend that book to others? Absolutely! Am I getting a payment back for recommending it? Most definitely! But my pay is not monetary. My payment is the satisfaction of knowing that other lives are being changed by the words they speak.
We can change the world ONE WORD AT A TIME!!! Anyone up for the challenge?

- My Earliest Memory
-
I remember my mother's friend coming to our house when I was only 3 years old. She was sitting on a straight-back kitchen chair in the middle of the living room and mom was fixing her hair.
I was very intrigued by this lady's skirt. She was wearing a full skirt that was made from material that had newspaper print for a pattern. I really thought she was wearing a newspaper, and I had to keep feeling the skirt. I had a hard time putting together what I saw with what I was feeling ~ newspaper vs. material.
It's rather humorous now, especially since I frequently make quilts and work with material, but it was very mind boggling at that young age.
