    • Telling It Like It Is
      • Hmmm, white lies or black truths...which is kind and which is right? Sadly, I have both held my tongue when I should have said an encouraging word to someone, just as I have said things that I wish I could recant! This is my new motto:

"Always hold your words in your mouth while your brain sorts thru them."
Once said, they can not be taken back! An apology does not unsay an unkind word whether it is true or not.

    • On Asking for Help
      • Stand Mixer Magic

No Help Wanted... when I cook. I can make a mess all by myself.

Chop, chop, measure, measure, pour, stir, mix with a whirrrrr... pour, spill, bake, eat!

    • Household Chores
      • Churn on Thursday?

        Dairy Cow

There is a traditional folk poem listing the "chores" of each work day. It is as follows:

        “Wash on Monday,
        Iron on Tuesday,
        Mend on Wednesday,
        Churn on Thursday,
        Clean on Friday,
        Bake on Saturday,
        Rest on Sunday.”

There is great pleasure in living in a well kept home, but I assure you that each and every modern home maker, whether man or woman, is very grateful for the existence of dry cleaners, alterations, dairies, maid services and Bakeries! And we still rest on Sunday!

    • 10 Things That Make Me Happy
      • Hugs
Hugs instill a warm feeling of acceptance, appreciation, and sincere affection in the recipient and the giver!

The sound of rain on a barn roof
There is nothing more peaceful than sitting in a barn, where the horses are quietly munching sweet feed and hay while rain patters on the tin roof. You can smell the warm horses and their feed and feel their contentment.

        Reading fiction
Books open new worlds and provide escapes or horizons.

        Horses
They are the most beautiful creatures on earth.

        Dogs
Dogs love us unconditionally, better said by Josh Billings, "A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself."

        Flowers
Best said by Dorothy Frances Gurney

"The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
        Than anywhere else on earth."

        Smell of burning leaves
Brings to mind children playing in the fall yard, jumping and scattering the colorful leaves before they are burned.

        A Giggling baby
There is no more joyful sound!

        Christmas
Peace on earth, good will to men
