- The Boy Next Door
-
The boy next door. That has to be it. That boy was born to make sure that my suburban childhood was as hellish as possible. Of course, it didn't help that I was (am) a crybaby. He teased me, hit me, sic'd the neighborhood dogs on me (back then the children and the dogs ran wild and unsupervised). Yep, I'm wussin' out and not naming names. That boy is dead now and by his own hand (or steering wheel). I suppose it's wrong or evil to call that justice or revenge or whatever. Sigh....

I remember always loving this book - Else Minarik's sweet and silly stories and then Maurice Sendak's beautiful illustrations. I drew my own illustration in my copy; a picture of a library card holder and card, complete with due date, inside of the front cover. That copy has disappeared into the wherever and now I hang on to the copy I bought for my daughter when she was much younger, hoping, I'm sure that she'd love it just as much. Nah. It now sits in a pile with every Maurice Sendak-illustrated book I've been able to get my hands on.

duck
Duck, wine, bread, good black tea, Jameson, lemons, honey and then some Throat Coat tea.
To release hostages I'd need lots of cash and amnesty of course.

- My love letter to Fredericksburg, VA
-
This town has creative energy out the wazoo. I moved here from Bowling Green KY (which, if it has any energy I never felt it/saw it/whatever), and life just hasn't been the same. I started writing songs here and found that there is music everywhere....and art and artists. My boyfriend hates this town, but everyone hates where there from. Me? I'm from Nashville. How's that for irony?
