If I had my way and it were legal, I would smoke some weed, that always puts me out. But since it isn't...If I don't want to get up, I put on an audio book that and listen for a while, hoping that I fall back to sleep. If I decide to get out of bed, I embrace my insomnia, and get shit done around the house.

- I think of you when I hear 'When you Say Nothing at all'
-
Music is a big part of my life. And certain songs are always associated with certain activities and people. Here is just a brief list.
When you Say Nothing at all by Allison Krauss and the Union Station
My best friend in college, hooked up with and eventually married my roommate from college. At which time they both quit speaking to me...yippee (note the sarcasm). My roommate had heard this song and immediately thought of my best friend. I had to tell her that this song was not something she should push on my friend. The Keith Whitley version had been his song with the girl who had severely broken his heart. Every time I sing it or hear it, I am reminded of my friend, his heartbreak and mine.
This song was a constant favorite off the juke box at my dad's business. Now when I listen to it, I am reminded of playing on the pool tables, while my dad swept up the floor around me. Those were good times.
Half a Stone Waltz by James B.
My husband wrote this song, and I used it when I walked down the aisle at our wedding. It will always be a song that makes me think of him and the smile on his face when he said "I do." And since it is on my ipod, I do hear it.

- My childhood arch enemy
-
I don't know who my arch enemy was for reals, but the girl I seemed to be most competitive with was Rachel Newman. She was the person I admired most, and at the same time hated the most. She always seemed to have everything I didn't.
That changed in Middle school and high school. She was not my arch enemy after that.
