I think I have about three scars. I have an appendix scar from when they pulled that sucker out. I was 8.
I have a scar on my chest from when I was helping my cat out of a tree. I was seven.
When I was 8 I got chickenpox and I have a scar above my eyebrow from those.
All my scars are from my childhood. Is this meaningful?
I used to have a scar on my knuckle from grating it off when I was about 23 but that seems to have faded.
I have a few.
1. This too shall pass. Because it always does
2. Everything happens for a reason. And although this is twee, I believe it to some extent. It helps when shit happens (another good expression) and I just try to keep going. MAYBE there is a meaning for it, maybe it's just shitty timing. But like #1, things keep going on.
3. You never know what is going to happen. This has been so true for my life. Somethings have happened that I never could have imagined, sometimes I wonder how I ended up where I did. But it's good, so I don't question it.
Life is short, I just try to keep rolling with it.
My mom and I have done this trip a few times. The one I really remember is the time we did it by BUS. Oh, that was long. At one stop the cops ran by the window, chasing someone with guns drawn! Then they came back on and asked everyone questions about the guy and what he was wearing and (shockingly) no one could agree.

We share a certain neurosis. She has panic attacks. And she also is very reluctant/terrified to let anyone get very close to her. I (sadly?) identified with that.
]]>An old boyfriend gave me a giant red fake fur hat. It looked like a dead muppet. But worse it had this awful seam going across it so no matter how I put it on, it sat crooked on my head. I think I gave it away in a clothes swap once. I honestly have no idea what happened to it.

I would turn it back to that summer I was 15 standing with that boy and when he leaned in to kiss me THIS TIME I would not RUN AWAY. God.
]]>The first other country I went to was the UK in 1999. I was 23. I loved seeing everything there. I remember taking pictures of shadows on the wall at the train station when we first got there, completely jet lagged and exhausted. We took a train to Liverpool and I stared out the window the entire time. I wanted to soak it all up.
