- '83 Buick

A 1983 Buick Regal. It was my dad's and it was beat up, black, and rusty. Just me and my three young gorgeous girlfriends, one summer, newly licensed and nowhere to go. The car drove like a slightly shoddy go kart. Sometimes it ran like a wild stallion, and when the roads got bumpy, I'd imagine I was riding a racehorse through the streets, over the hills winding through rough terrain. It didn't make any difference where we were driving to back then, only what it felt like to finally be free.

In three years I will be (I hope) thirty-two and a half. And since I declared at twenty that I could not wait to be thirty because by thirty I'd have my shi* together, then by thirty-two I will own my own live-in studio/cottage by the water. A place to live, and also to paint large works of art, and create messes while making stuff, and to gather people in to make messes too, and to dance in and teach dancing, and to cook and bake and experiment with food and flavors, and to hang from the ceiling by silk, and play music as loud as I want, and to sing acapella as off-key as I can.
