    • Battle for Chocolate
      • The angel on my left and the demon on my right are always fighting over chocolate cake.... and even if it isn't chocolate cake, if it even has any letters in it that are found in chocolate cake, it becomes a battle.

Last week, when faced with a Cafe Mocha Latte (note the C, the Ocha, and the tempting latte: CHOCOLATTE) little sweet angel pleaded, "Don't do it! You know the sugar messes you up. They don't even have SUGAR FREE Chocolate like Peet's in San Francisco... You can't get away with it!" Demon laughed.

Angel again, dancing with pointed toe, desperate for my attention as I took in deep breaths of the starbuckaroma reminded me, "But your ass - it doesn't help any of it! And the sugar high! Don't you know chocolate gives you zits?" Demon waved the little fan-like spread at the end of his tail, up towards my nostrils, delighted that the smell of Mocha was so easy to move.

Angel waivered, "Evelyn, I KNOW you can find love in other places!"

The Demon, grinning handsomely, his soft sultry voice simply bellowed, "Choawwww-co-late..." then he smacked his lips together.

Demon always wins on that one. I gotta let him win on the small stuff so I can keep straight on the BIG stuff!

    • Is there a plus to weddings?
      • Weddings are my worst nightmare...

Seriously, the best part about a wedding is NOT BEING ASKED TO PARTICIPATE! I don't mind going to weddings, and dancing, eating, celebrating, but please don't ask me to be in the wedding party. I have had my share of disasters; from being asked to buy a dress for myself, later discovering that I was really asked to make the party bigger, not because I was wanted; to being in a party with my fiance, who then became an EX-Fiance by the time the wedding came along, AND having to walk down the isle WITH HIM. I almost passed out from the anxiety! Weddings and Evelyn DO NOT MIX well!

So, don't get all bent out of shape if I gently say no. My own wedding party consisted of 5 people; my hubby, myself, my sister, his sister, and our priestess! What more do you need. Better yet, I spent about $800 for the whole deliciously calm and cozy event... imagine how much I saved by stepping away from being a bridezilla maniac!

    • Rooming with Kermit...
      • Kermit The Frog

Certainly finding myself on Sesame Street would be a relief considering all the other places I could end up. At least I know my neighbors get along and are prone to group sing-a-longs and sharing cookies. However, if I could pick the ideal roommate on Sesame Street I would likely pick Kermit the Frog.

Kermit, beyond the other muppet characters, is the most like me. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he was a Virgo, although I expect he is a Libra. Gentle, sensitive to others, and of a passive aire, he is likely to work well at conflict resolution. Mediating who keeps up after themselves will be easier in a shared apartment with a character like Kermit. I also expect, if I left the shower curtain open, or forgot to rinse my dish, he would be patient with me.

Kermit also offers a depth that would be ideal for intense and somewhat ethereal conversations. The kind that leave you pondering the wonder of life and living. I could easily get into fascinating discussions on "reality" including the meaning of having a frog in my life, symbolic of transformation, flexibility, and adaptability.

I imagine Kermit's past-time is meditating quietly or doing yoga. I don't think this has ever been part of his public life, but wouldn't surprise me in the least. In fact, it would encourage me quite a bit. I am terrible at keeping up with self care, but like a froggy little yogi, he could easily provide support and encouragement. But such passivity isn't all this roommate offers. I also believe Kermit is quite industrious, prone to creative writing and other endeavors. We could easily share our creative endeavors, offering honest and useful feedback.

Ah... dream roommate. I wonder how he deals with Dogs & Teenagers? I will certainly have to train Gizmo to leave him alone. They are both small creatures, and this would be a disadvantage. Gizmo thinks small things are his toys. However, Kermit's ability to care for all creatures will likely mean Gizmo has gained another best friend. It's the kid I should really be concerned with.
