- Differences--Hopes of the New Year!

New Year! New hope! Life! Love! Happiness! Trials! Measures! Minutes! Seconds!
We all revolve around traditions! Drinking beer, wearing green and eating corned beef on St. Patty's day.... Family get-togethers during Christmas and Thanksgiving...eating Turkey and stuffing... giving presents... watching beams of fire light up the sky in the warm month of July... wearing black to mourn the loss of a loved one... even simply roasting marshmallows, singing songs, and telling stories around a campfire. We pride ourselves in our long standing traditions, finding that they give us consolation and give us our own special place in this world when we partake in them...
~~Welcoming in the New Year also embraces its own traditions... wearing crazy hats, eating pork... banging pots and pans and making as much noise as possible when the ball drops in Time Square.. but the most valued tradition is centered around the idea of "moving on", "making a new start", and "differences"!
So what's going to be different this year? We all are going to face the same things we always have... There will be tears of joy and tears of sadness, we will go through trial and err, measuring losses and gains, we will strive for happiness and some days find gleams of it and then some days it will slip away. But The thing that will be different this year is the hope! Hope will never go away as long as we embrace through tears, and joy, sorrow, happiness, anger, and love. Hope is always there! Where there is hope there is no need to focus on regrets and say that this will be better than the last year because with hope everyday is new! A fresh start! Different! Because Hope is the difference!
i end this entry with one of my favorite songs ...we measure things in seconds in minutes--moments of love and hope, happiness--seasons of love!
"Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes/Five Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Moments so dear/.... How Do You Measure - Measure A Year?/... Measure your life, measure your life in love....."

- If I Could Be a Character From a Book, I'd Be...

~'Alice in Wonderland' a childhood tale that keeps alive the child that's inside of us~
Every individual, at one point in their life, views them self as some character in a book, whether it be on account of the character is their role model, hero,...someone they can relate to, etc. But sometimes when I fall asleep I find myself as Alice trapped in reality...looking for my wonderland.
I find myself desiring to meet that talking Rabbit who's always running behind schedule, the mad hatter with his topsy-turvy life style, the queen of hearts (but not the queen of my heart), the caterpillar who transforms into a butterfly, and finally, the Cheshire Cat--Alice's guide.
For awhile I seemed to think that maybe I was just acknowledging the spirit of my childhood-past, but then I realized that I was creating my own Wonderland and these simple childhood characters resembled the figures in my own life...
The Rabbit seems is a remnant of my mother always running late....someone for me to follow--who leads me to my Wonderland, starts me off on my way. The Mad Hatter, a simple, pleasant soul who is indeed very unique, as is the rest of the tea party (the march hare and door mouse). This group of lovable oddities represents the wonderful friends I have made and people I have met throughout the course of life. The Queen of Hearts represents the denial of God which only leads to one's complete unhappiness, and the "off-ing" of your head. The caterpillar is a symbol of the beauty of creation and the changing in our lives...God takes the simplest things and transforms them into the most extraordinary and beautiful things. And finally, the Cheshire Cat, the most mystical and unique creature of all, represents God Almighty. The Cheshire is a creature constantly appearing throughout Alice's travels. He guides her along the way helping her to reach the goal, the goal which she doesn't even realize exists until she discovers it when she returns home.
So, for now I remain faithfully yours, Alice...and I am living in the presence, in my Wonderland, where I hope I will discover, like Alice, who I truly am through the continuance of my journey...the journey of life, My Wonderland.
