    • Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner?
      • I wake up every morning with a simple smile and a thought "What's for breakfast?!"

Two Egg Breakfast with Bacon - The Fat Lady - Oakland, CA

Going through the answers for this prompt, I was shocked to find how few people share my enthusiasm for breakfast!!

Am I the only one who wakes up in the morning, looking forward to some delicious toast, eggs, maybe bacon, maybe some pancakes or maybe some other wonderful treat for my taste buds... Let's topple it with some juice... No, No!! Let's just have cereal today with milk. Wait! How about some traditional Indian breakfast comprising of dosas and idlis? It's an experience in itself!

The other two meals of the day lie in the middle of our lives' hustle. But breakfast, that one gets all my attention. It satisfies me the most, without leaving me feeling overloaded as is the case with lunch. It is delicious, but doesn't bring things to an end, like the dinner.

They say its the most important meal of the day. Science and health experts may say so for the sake of boosting metabolism or providing energy for the day or some other logical reason, but it's most important to me for the way it makes me feel. Complete and energetic to handle the rest of the day with everything I've got. It helps me give my best everyday!

    • Roll awayyyy!!!
      • Idiots, self obsessed, 'know-it-all's..... you know the type!

There are quite a lot of things that make my eyes do backflips in their sockets. I am not someone with a high tolerance for the stupid or the self obsessed moron.

The self obsessed moron is the kind who will start up a conversation in a subtle manner but keep emphasizing on the some point to press you to ask him something in return. The answer to that obviously is a big ass rant of how he/she is the awesome-est thing around.... ughhhh.. Just another retard who thinks the world revolves around them. I've met them at airports, at the library or even the bus stand. Its ALWAYS about them. Seems almost impossible to talk about anything without it ending up with them being the center of the conversation again. "Hey, that's so cool that you visited that place... I want to go there sometime too, but I guess getting a sponsored trip to France owing to my mind boggling performance in the debate competition isn't bad either, huh?" *ROLLLLLLL!!*

Then there's the simple and plain stupid.... No mysteries or complications here. Its just a person with dung for a brain. Can't figure out anything, expects to be spoon-fed, has opinions which are based on facts less than what a 10yr old can perceive and just isn't open to understand ANYTHING people try to explain. I usually include religious mobs in this category, since anyone who decides to spend a major part of their lives on something that has no proof of existence, causes bloody fights among people for no apparent reason, is often proved to be wrong by logic & science, can be nothing short of plain stupid.

The most dangerous is when these two characters are found in the same person. That's when my eyes roll to the extent of making me go blind :/ .

    • Mommy knows best!
      • How my mom helped me win..

Another Plinky prompt that makes me think over some old memories. I was young and the struggles in my life were only beginning to get serious. Mom always believed in me and knew I could fight my way through the toughest battles. To help me get through the toughest times ahead, she told me something looong before I was mature enough to comprehend its full implications in my life: "Always try to come first. That way, even if you don't succeed, atleast you'll be second!"

It was said in a playful manner, which hid the seriousness it held. Mom has always pushed me to reach the best of my abilities. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't to over pressurize me with the burden of pleasing my parents with the best of grades, best results etc. They just never wanted me to look back and think that I never tried enough.

I've stuck to this motto till the point of getting into the best university of my country. Now that I'm here, I've started taking life in a lot more laid back fashion. I have shifted my priorities from sloggin to enjoying life, but with a balance of both. But I feel comfortable in doing this only because I heeded Mom's words when they were most needed, and thankfully that has given me enough intertia to move forward at a good pace in the future.

    • Let's get the fancy stuff done!! But the right way....
      • "Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. You’ve got to get the fundamentals down because otherwise the fancy stuff isn’t going to work." This was a line that has been etched into me after I heard Randy Pausch, late computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon, say in the last lecture ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo ).

I don't wanna get started on that one lecture and how amazing it was. Perhaps that conversation can be saved for another time. I want to focus on how greatly important it is to realize what this statement suggests. Every now and then, we witness something which leaves us in awe. Something so inspiring, it affects our thinking (if only for a short while) and makes us want to be more than who we are now. But it is easy to be carried away by such incidents and to ignore the simple fact that what we have witnessed was not achieved from a single day's efforts.

To get more specific, we can look at examples like Dave Mustaine - a guitarist from heaven (my inspiration :) ), Michael Phelps - a swimmer who makes fish look bad, Tony Hawk - a skateboarder who could dance better than you....using a skateboard!, and many many more!! Watching such people makes you wanna do what they can. But they make it look wayyyy too easy. What we do not realize at first is that these people have put tremendous amount of efforts into getting where they are now.

The simple fact is that without the basics and the fundamentals, one can only go so far. You may be able to mimic the master, but after a point, there's only so much you can do with that. When your foundation is strong, the limit is the sky! There are no boundaries to the things you can achieve because the art is yours! You decide what you want to create and how you want to do it. That's the kind of liberating freedom the fundamentals can give you.

So get your fundamentals straight, and watch the fancy stuff flow right out of you!!

    • Dreaming of taking risks & living life
      • A really old dream, will one day be fulfilled..

        14,000 ft Sky diving

If I could have my dream vacation, it would be to go around the world in search of adventure sports. My bucket list has always had 'Sky-diving' on the top followed by other novelties like Bungee Jumping & Water skiing. What's always stopping me are the 2 most obvious reasons: time & cash :(. I have managed to cross off Scuba Diving and Para Sailing off the list so far, but life's short and I'm running out of time!

I will be completing my studies in another year. Plan to make full use of my time and money once I start working. Life's too short to keep wondering 'what if'....

I hear New Zealand is quite the heaven for adventure sports seeker. Would love to spend a couple of months there, taking my time to make new friends, go crazy, and have a nice time with nothing to worry about. Then maybe move over to another country and live a new life for the next few months, and carry on like this for a whole year, before I decide to get back to my routine life..........Ahhhh, eternal bliss!! If only life was that simple :)
